At the turn of the century, wealthy men and women,
including John D. Rockefeller, Sr., came to Ormond
Beach for a winter climate full of sunshine and balmy
temperatures.
In 1903, young men and racing machines arrived as
well. Ormond Beach became the “Birthplace of Speed”
and gained worldwide fame by attracting daring
drivers who chased speed records on its wide, hardpacked, sandy beach.

tennis complex at the Ormond Beach Tennis Center.
Here, visitors can play on one of the Center’s eight fastdry, lighted clay courts or take advantage of the on-site

Ormond Beach Sports Complex
The Ormond Beach Sports Complex has over sixty
acres of athletic fields, including ten Little League
baseball/softball fields, five adult softball fields, four
full-size baseball fields, four tee-ball fields, one gym,
and ten soccer fields, with one doubling as a football
field.
Eight shuffleboard courts are located in the Complex,
as well as several playgrounds, including a boundless
playground. The Complex is home to the Harry

Ormond Beach’s Andy Romano Beachfront Park
The City of Ormond Beach created a four-acre public
beachfront park with beach access and free off-beach
parking that provides ocean views and restoration of
natural dunes. The park features a children’s playground, splash pad, four large pavilions, charcoal grills,
restrooms and a concession stand.
Central Park
Central Park consists of four parks totaling 149.1 acres
and five lakes. There are gazebos, picnic pavilions and
the G.F. Althouse nature trail with plant identification
markers nestled throughout the parks. A large peaceful
lake is situated on the property with fishing and viewing access provided by the Joyce Ebbets fishing pier
as well as a canoe/kayak ramp. The Central Park picnic
pavilions are available for rental for your next gathering. All of the Park’s lakes are interconnected so those
using canoes and kayaks can traverse from lake to lake
without leaving the water.

Cassen Park
Cassen Park is a 3.7-acre riverfront park located along
the Halifax River. A bait shop, boat docks, a fishing pier
stretching under the Granada Bridge, cleaning stations
and ample parking are all available on-site. There are
also picnic tables and charcoal grills available.
Fortunato Park
Fortunato Park is a 2.6-acre scenic riverfront park
located along the Halifax River just east of the Granada
Bridge. The Park is home to the Ormond Hotel Cupola,
which is a historic landmark. Amenities include paved
walking trails, picnic area, playground, restrooms and

Stretching west from the Atlantic Ocean along Granada
Boulevard is Ormond Beach’s downtown. This beautiful

The Casements – The Jewel of Ormond Beach
The Casements & Rockefeller Gardens
The Casements is a 9,000-square-foot home that was
once the winter residence of John D. Rockefeller, Sr.,
and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Rockefeller Gardens is a spectacular riverfront
park where a multitude of community events occur. The
site is available for rentals, wedding ceremonies and
receptions, and tours of the home are offered Monday
through Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. and on
Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

In the early 1900s, John D. Rockefeller, Sr., called upon
scientists to find him the “healthiest winter climate in
the world” for his winter home. Ormond Beach was
that spot, and Rockefeller joined his friend Henry
Flagler and other wealthy magnates who came here
to escape from the snow and cold. Visit the little threestory “cottage” that Mr. Rockefeller called home,
now elegantly restored and a museum known as
