Ontheoveralllengthofpole±25mm. iv)Weight:‐ Meanweightforbulksuppliesshallbenotmorethan5 percentbelowthecalculatedvalue.Theweightofanysingle poleshallnotfallbelowthecalculatedweightbymorethan 7.5percent. 7.SwagedPoles‐Swagedpolesshallbemadeofseamlessorweldedtubesofsuitable lengthsswagedandjoinedtogether.Nocircumferentialjointsshallbepermittedin theindividualtubelengthsofthepoles.Ifweldedtubesareusedtheyshallhaveone longitudinalweldseamonly;andthelongitudinalweldsshallbestaggeredateach swagedjoint.. 7.1Swagingmaybedonebyanymechanicalprocess.Theupperedgeofeachjoint shall be chamfered off at an angle of about 45C'. The upper edge need not be chamferedifacircum.ferentialweldistobedepositedinaccordancewith5.3.2. 7.2 Unless swaging is done by special process such as rotary or longitudinal die swagingprocessacircumferentialweldshallbedepositedattheupperendofthe joint (Fig. I) at a slope of approximately 45°. Thi~ circumferential weld shall be deposited only after the poles are subjected to and conforms to all the test requirementsspecifiedinthisstandard. Fig.1 2|Page 8.Protectionagainstcorrosion:‐ Thepolesshallbecoatedwithblackbituminouspaint(conformingtoIS:158/1968) oftwocoatsthroughout,internallyandexternally,uptothelevelwhichgoesinside theearthincluding1mabovetheearthlevel.Theworkingportionoftheexterior shallbepaintedwithtwocoatsofredoxideprimer(conformingtoIS:2074/1979). 9.Earthingarrangements:‐ Polesshallbeprovidedwithearthingarrangementwithathroughholeof14mmdia. whichshallbeprovidedataheightof300mmabovetheplantingdepth. 10.M.S.BasePlate:‐ M.S.baseplateasperdrawingshallhavetobeweldedtobottomportionofthepole. Bothplanesoftheplatetobeweldedalongthecircumferenceofthebottomportion ofthepole.Twocoatsofbituminouspaint(conformingtoISS: 158/1968)shallbe providedonallsurfaceoftheM.S.Plate. 11.Topcap:‐ Canopy shaped plate of thickness same as that of top section of the pole shall be providedatthetopofthepolewithproperwelding 12.Thepolesshallbemadeofweldedtubeofsuitablelength(indicatedintherelevant ISS and enclosed drawing) swaged together and conforming to chemical compositionandphysicalrequirementofthespecification.Thematerialtobeused forthepolesshallbeofminimumtensilestrengthof42kgtperSqmm. 13.ChemicalComposition:‐AsperIS:228(P‐III)/1972andIS:228(P‐IX)/1975oras amendedlatest. 14.MinimumTensileStrength:‐42Kgt/mm² 15.Approx.Weightofeachpole:11mtr=194Kg 16.Breakingloadofeachpole(inN/kgf):11mtr=5030(513) 17.Cripplingloadofeachpole(inN/kgf):11mtr=3570(364) 3|Page Fig- 1 Mild Steel Base Plate Fig- 2 Steel Pole 4|Page 4.TESTSANDTESTCERTIFICATES: 4.1Thefollowingtestsshallbeconductedonpolesafterplacedofpurchaseorder andtestcertificatesshouldbesubmittedtothepurchaserforapproval: A.Tensiletest, B.Deflectiontest, C.Permanentsettest,and D.Droptest.
