SPANISH MAGAZINE PROJECT
100 Puntos on your Assessment Grade – This is a Demonstration of Learning (DOL)
Due: ____________
¿Qué es el proyecto de la revista?
The “Spanish Magazine Project” is a TYPED, individual project that evaluates the students’ already
learned cultural knowledge and language proficiency in a fun and creative way. You are the editor of a
new publication and are in charge of creating a new, hip magazine that will appeal to millions of Latinos.
Your job (and your grade) is counting on it!!! Every single word in the magazine must be in SPANISH!!!
¿Qué necesitas incluir en la revista?
A. Determine the name of your “Spanish Magazine” (ex: “La Vida Loca”)
B. Your “Spanish Magazine” must have a cover page with your magazine name, your own personal name,
price/cost, date of issue and volume #, headlines to give an idea of what’s inside, & clip art and/or
photos.
C. The “inside” must have 8 PAGES:
1. A Famous Hispanic Male (i.e. actor, comedian, writer, president, etc.)
 Write a paragraph* describing this person (i.e. age, likes, dislikes, etc. You
should include details about what they do, where they live, etc.) PRESENT TENSE
2. A Famous Hispanic Female (i.e. actress, singer, model, etc.)
 Write a paragraph* describing this person (i.e. age, likes, dislikes, etc. You
should include details about what they do, where they live, etc.) PRESENT TENSE
3. Movie Review (i.e. “The Dark Knight”, “The Grinch”, etc.)
 Write a review of the movie (summary of the plot in the past tense, is it
good?, bad?, worth the money?, etc. in paragraph* form)
4. Horoscope for the Month of Your Issue (i.e. Cancer, Pisces, etc.)
 Write a horoscope of at least 5 sentences. Remember that horoscopes
are the FUTURE tense (Ir + A + infinitivo).
5. A Vacation Review (i.e. Shakira’s trip to Japan, J-Lo went to Vegas, etc.)
 In the PAST TENSE, tell about the trip… where did the person go? What
did they do there? What was the weather like? What were the hotel and
accommodations like? Tell all about it in paragraph* form.
6. A Sports Review (i.e. Roberto Clemente, Óscar de la Hoya, etc.)
 Choose a Hispanic athlete and tell about him or her in the present tense.
Then, give a review of a recent sporting event (this can be fictionalized),
summarizing what HAPPENED in the PAST TENSE. Use vocabulary from
Section 2.1. Tell all about it in paragraph* form.
7. A Legend/Folktale for Kids (i.e. Los 2 Volcanes, Hansel and Gretle, etc.)
 Tell the story in your own words, keeping it simple, and using vocabulary
you know. You should incorporate the present and past tenses to tell the
story. It should be at last 8 complete Spanish sentences or more.
8. An Advertisement (i.e. Hummer 3, xBox 360, Nutrisystem, etc.)
 Using MANDATOS (commands) advertise a product or service. Make it
appealing to catch your readers’ attention and incorporate at least 6
different commands. 3 of the commands in the ad must be affirmative
and 3 must be negative.
*”Paragraph” as it is used in these requirements means a cohesive body of 5-8 sentences that
are related to a topic sentence.

Be as creative as possible!!! Each page must have clip-art, a photo, magazine clippings or hand drawings to
match each page.
Use clip-art, photos, or hand-drawings to enhance the appearance and quality of your “Spanish Magazine”.
You will have several days in class to work on this project. Also, several nights of Homework will be: “Work
on your magazine project”. Make sure you bring all of your art materials and other necessary resources to
class. Don’t forget your flashdrive to bring materials to and from school. DON’T PROCRASTINATE!!!
Remember that this project counts DOUBLE – it’s 100 points on your class work grade, which makes
up 20% of your grade for the quarter AND it’s your Quarterly Assessment, which makes up 15% of
your quarter grade. It’s important that you do well and get my help with editing when needed.
