December 2015 Newsletter As we head into the December busy season I want to acknowledge and thank everyone for their support this term. Especially the hard working Committee and Teaching Team. There has been fundraising, a working bee, shared kai (food), fun days, bush adventures and camp The wider world of family fires. and community is an integral We have three more weeks left of bush adventures part of our kindergarten. and Marie will be organising the one on Friday. We have also heard that families have been taking their children in the weekend to revisit these learning opportunities. Fantastic!!! Thank you to Jane and Zel that supported us with marshmallows and help last week with our fire experience. This has been a magical learning experience for all. Whanaungatanga Thank you to everyone that contributed to the working bee on Saturday and we ticked off every job. It was a beautiful day to spend time together getting the kindergarten looking fantastic. “Naku te rourou nau te rourou ka ora ai te iwi” “With your basket and my basket the people will thrive” What a fun day by all and thank you to all the families that brought some food to share. This is the time of year that we can celebrate being together and thankful for all our amazing support for our kindergarten. Thank you also to Jo and Libby that helped get the kai (food ) ready. We sung and danced our heart out and most of all we had lot’s of fun!!!!! Words can never express the amount of hours that both Anne and Annalise you have put into making our Kindergarten function to a high level. Thank you on behalf of everyone at Johnsonville Kindergarten for your service. Please come and join us on Thursday 3rd December 2015 @ 3.15pm for their last meeting and celebration of all their efforts. In 2015 we will be needing to fill these roles of these two (nga taonga) treasures , so please think about it over the break to contribute to our fantastic kindergarten. These are very rewarding positions (Secretary and Co Chairperson of the Committee) , we have more information in the office about what these entail. Thank you in advance. This weekend is the Christmas Parade 5th December 2015. Please meet at Dr Taylor Terrace at 10.45am. We are still needing volunteers so please sign up today. This is a great way that the community can see the fantastic experiences that we provide at Johnsonville Kindergarten. It is also a great way we can advertise for free marketing. Reminder: Children to wear ‘outdoor themed’ clothing. A huge big thank you to Julie (Cindy’s Mum) for designing the backdrop and the hours and hours of paining that you have put into the design. It looks magnificent. Also thank you to every family that have contributed to this being successful. The children are very excited. Christmas BBQ @5.30pm—7pm Fantails—Desert Kiwi—Salad A notice will go this week for whānau to sign up for added resources that are needed to make this successful. A great celebration for the year. ZAPPO Tuesday 15 December 1.45 for the fantails Wednesday 16 December for the kiwi group. Notices will be out next week with costs towards this show, which is amazing. It has been rewarding to have the tamariki’s interests and working theories answered through having a fire to cook marshmallows. The tamariki have been learning about fire safety, therefore we have our local Fire Person Phil to come in and educate us on fire education. Phil will be here at 10am and the fire truck will be here. You are more than welcome to come along to learn alongside your tamariki (children). Your tamariki will be sent home with a fire safety book and evaluation plan for each home. Also if you would like a free smoke alarm we can give you details of how to make this happen for your family. Outdoor theme for costumes. Please meet at 10.55am at Frank Moore Street—ready for the children to go on the float. 11.55 The children will return to this point for pick up. We really need helpers please sign up today!!! The sand for the working bee was funded by Blaze for the transport and free delivery and Kiwi Quarry for the sand.
