Many of his former colleagues have gone on the start successful companies – including SpaceX, Tesla Motors, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Yelp. In 2004, Peter started Palantir Technologies, a data analytics company that makes tools for national security and global finance. That same year he also made the first outside investment in Facebook and continues to serve on its Board of Directors. Today, as a Partner at Founder Fund and in his own investing, he works to identify and support the next generation of technology companies. Peter started the Thiel Foundation and the 20 Under 20 Thiel Fellowship, helping to ignite a debate on the differences that might exist between learning and schooling. He recently wrote a book called Zero to One: Notes on Startups, or How to Build the Future, based on a class he taught at Stanford University. JOSH WOLFE Josh Wolfe is Co-Founder and Managing Director of venture capital fund, Lux Capital, focusing on contrarian investments in emerging technology. He is also CoFounder and Director at Kurion, which focuses on high-tech nuclear waste in Fukushima, Japan and US nuclear weapons cleanup complexes. He is the Founding Investor and Director at Kymeta, where, with Bill Gates and Nathan Myhrvold, he is working to commercialize “metamaterials” for global satellite communications. Other pursuits include Shapeways, the world leader in 3D printing, Planet Labs, which launched the largest constellation of earth-imaging satellites, and Siluria, an MITspinout that converts natural gas to global chemicals. Josh previously worked at SalomonSmithBarney and Merrill Lynch; he also published AIDS-immunopathology research in Cell Vision and The Journal of Leukocyte Biology.
