St. Paul urges us to examine our conscience: "Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a man examine himself, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment upon himself." Anyone conscious of a grave sin must receive the sacrament of Reconciliation before coming to communion. Here is one example of a mortal sin. 2181 The Sunday Eucharist is the foundation and confirmation of all Christian practice. For this reason the faithful are obliged to participate in the Eucharist on days of obligation, unless excused for a serious reason (for example, illness, the care of infants) or dispensed by their own pastor. Those who deliberately fail in this obligation commit a grave sin. The schedule for confessions this coming week can be found on page 3. New to the parish? Welcome! We are glad you are here! A member of the Welcoming Committee will contact you once you are registered. Registration forms are available in the Media Center in the Gathering Space or in the Parish Office in the lower level of the church from 8:30 am - 4 pm Monday through Friday. If you would like to have someone from the Welcoming Committee give you a tour of the parish or answer any new member questions, email [email protected] or contact Molly Weiss at 620546-6331. Stay tuned to the bulletin and Facebook for upcoming new member events! Divine Mercy Novena begins Jesus asked that the Feast of the Divine Mercy be preceded by a Novena to the Divine Mercy which would begin on Good Friday. He gave St. Faustina an intention to pray for on each day of the Novena, saving for the last day the most difficult intention of all, the lukewarm and indifferent. The chaplet will be prayed in Church each day at 3 pm through Sunday, April 23. 2 | Church of the Resurrection • Wichita, Kansas It’s not an Easter egg hunt, but ….. Lenten Rice Bowls Now that Lent is almost ended, parishioners are asked to bring their Rice Bowls to church anytime this week or next weekend. Thank you for your generosity in helping to change people’s lives. A note of THANKS The Lenten Meal after Stations on March 17 was hosted by members from the Over 50 Group and the free will donations from that night were sent to Club Jerry in Guaymas, Mexico. (Several of our parishioners have participated in mission trips to Guaymas since 2008.) We received the following note of thanks from Jerry. On behalf of all the children, youth and parents, I thank you very, very much for your gift. A few years back I visited Wichita and was very much impressed with your parish, how everyone lives the spirit of the Gospel, and your children and teens are taught the Catholic values that our children here lack so much of. We are very grateful for your gift. It will help us to continue to serve the kids of our barrios. To have an idea of the works of the club, visit www.Jerrysclub.org.
