Rent the Exhibit The portable exhibit consists of a background banner, which is 25 feet long and 4 feet high, and comes in 5 segments. This banner can be separated into segments for maximum flexibility and can be hung on a wall or suspended from a ceiling using your choice of wooden dowels or fishing line. There are 5 pop up screens (3 ½ ft wide and 7 feet tall) easily transported in their own carrying cases, which have text and images. Accompanying the exhibit is a Museum in a Box which includes the following touchable artifacts: A beaver pelt and a mink wrap Sample trade goods Dried moose meat, salmon and soapberries Raw materials to make a canoe (birch bark and spruce root) A birch bark basket A writing desk with ink, feather and straight pens Also included is a Library in a Box with the following books and DVDs: The Letters and Journals of Simon Fraser, 1806-1808 edited by W. Kaye Lamb Harmon’s Journal, 1808-1819 by Daniel Williams Harmon Simon Fraser: In Search of Modern British Columbia by Stephen Hume The Canoe: a Living Tradition by John Jennings “Many Tender Ties” Women in Fur-Trade Society 1670-1870 by Sylvia Van Kirk A binder of selected readings César’s Bark Canoe, the National Film Board The Diary of Simon Fraser Pacific North West Adventure, CBC o Elders’ Stories: Memory and Wisdom o Elders’ Stories: Survival on the Land o The River of Memory website on DVD It is recommended that borrowers have one or more computer stations available to create viewing stations for the River of Memory website and the Elders’ Stories: Survival on the Land DVD. The exhibit can be rented by regional schools and community groups for $50 for a two week period. Pick-up and delivery is the responsibility of the borrower. All components of the exhibit can be shipped further afield in one crate for a more extended period.
