St. Mary`s Teacher Birthday Celebration Guidelines For

St. Mary’s Teacher Birthday Celebration Guidelines
For Pre-school through 5th Grade:
All teacher birthday celebrations will be coordinated by the Room Parents of each classroom.
The teacher birthday celebration should be scheduled for the Friday afternoon of their birthday
week, unless there is a student birthday being celebrated on that Friday in which case it can be
moved to the actual birthday or another day of that week that is approved by the teacher.
All St. Mary’s faculty and staff each receive a birthday gift certificate from the PTF which will
be presented at the party by the Room Parents, so no further gifts are expected or required. The
teacher birthday celebrations should be consistent with the student birthday celebration
guidelines, i.e. planned for the end of the day to minimize classroom interruptions with modest
treats and activities.
Parents in the classrooms should not be solicited for additional money or gifts for the teacher. If
individual families wish to purchase a personal gift for the teacher in addition to the gift
certificate, it is expected that this gift will not be opened in the classroom and that the gifts will
not be overly expensive or elaborate.
For Middle School:
All teacher birthday celebrations will be coordinated by the Grade Level Representatives who
will present the teacher with the PTF gift certificate. No solicitation of parents for additional gifts
is allowed and if any classroom recognition of the day is planned it should be coordinated for the
end of the school day to minimize disruption of the learning environment.
If individual families wish to purchase a personal gift for the teacher in addition to the gift
certificate, it is expected that this gift will not be opened in the classroom and that the gifts will
not be overly expensive or elaborate.
