This option eliminates the inconvenience of check writing, postage costs and check fees. For information call 1-888467-3543. By signing up for the Automatic Renewal program, your credit/debit card or bank account will automatically be billed each year for your annual membership dues then in effect. Each year before your membership expires, we’ll send a statement of your current services and renewal dues amount. You may cancel Auto Renewal at any time by contacting AAA. Unless you contact us to make changes to or cancel Auto Renewal, AAA will automatically renew your membership and charge the dues shown on your statement to your account on file. If your VISA®/MasterCard® credit/debit card issuing bank participates in the Card Account Updater program, unless you opt out of the service with your issuing bank, we may receive updated credit/debit card account number and/or expiration date for the card information you have previously provided us. We will update our files and use the new information when we bill you for your annual membership dues. We won’t receive updated information if your account has been closed. After being a member for several years, if you are enrolled in Automatic Renewal, you will begin to receive a new membership card every other year. Your card will be valid for two years when you pay your billed dues each year. Hearing impaired members may call our TTY at 1-800-451-4006. Members may also request Roadside Assistance online at AAA.com or download AAA Mobile from your app store. When contacting AAA for service, please give your name, membership number, exact location (including the nearest intersecting street), vehicle description, type of service needed, and contact information. The following provisions define the scope and extent of this Club’s Roadside Assistance Service. Please note that these rules are subject to change, so members should read them each time they are published. When traveling outside AAA Missouri’s territory in an area served by another AAA Club, their service regulations will apply. Rules and rates may vary throughout the country. Reimbursement is extended to include those services covered by your membership that are not available from another AAA Club. If you have questions about the Club’s Roadside Assistance Service policies, please call Member Services at 1-800-222-4357. Eligibility You are entitled to specific Roadside Assistance Services, without charge, when all five of the following conditions are met: • You have paid membership dues and have a membership card in your name. • You are with the car to receive service and present a current membership card and photo identification. Unless a valid AAA membership card and identification are presented at the time of service, you will be expected to pay for the service provided at commercial rates. (Exceptions can be made in extenuating circumstances.) • You were either driving the vehicle or riding in the vehicle at the time of the breakdown. • The condition of the vehicle is one that prevents you from continuing or completing your trip in that car. • Your use of Roadside Assistance has not exceeded four calls during a membership year, otherwise charges are incurred for the fifth and subsequent calls. 4 0315ACMO_BenRefGuide.indd 7 3/13/15 8:24 AM Type of Service Requests The Club allows one normally equipped service vehicle and one driver for each service request. You must pay for any special or additional equipment or personnel at the time of service and at the prevailing commercial rates. Only one service call is allowed per breakdown. The following types of Roadside Assistance are normally available: Starting: If your vehicle’s battery is weak or dead, the Club will provide an electrical boost (jump start). If it cannot be started, the Club will provide a tow. AAA Battery Service, a mobile battery testing and replacement service, is available in some markets and batteries can be purchased at the scene of disablement, if available. (See details in Automotive Services section under Battery Service.) Towing: If your car requires towing, the Club will provide eligible vehicles one tow per breakdown either back to the Service Provider Facility station providing the tow (if they provide repair services) or to a destination (including a AAA Approved Auto Repair facility) within three driving miles of the point of breakdown. For towing to any other destination, the Club covers the charge for the hook-up and the first three driving miles of towing. Towing beyond the benefits described above is at the member’s expense. The Club will not reimburse such mileage charges. Towing may be available for light duty trailers being towed at the time of disablement. The member, however, will be responsible for any related charges for towing of the trailer. Members requesting flatbed service will be charged when not required by the vehicle manufacturer. Flatbed service charges are not applicable if required due to accident damage or if it is the service provider’s primary service vehicle. Any long distance tow, or a tow to a facility other than the servicing facility, may have to be deferred to a time when the contractor can make the tow without affecting the normal Roadside Assistance Service it provides. Such a delay will not normally be more than a few hours. Accident Towing: Service will be provided to the member in accordance with the rules in the Towing section shown above, unless prohibited by law. Storage charges or additional tows are not covered. The Club and/or its service providers may seek reimbursement from insurance companies and/or repair facilities when appropriate. Extrication/Winching Service: If your vehicle becomes stuck, one normally equipped service vehicle and one driver will be provided to extricate or winch your vehicle when it can be safely reached from a normally traveled road or established thoroughfare. Extrication of vehicles parked on streets; driveways, parking lots or alleys which are snowbound or flooded is not covered under AAA membership. Shoveling snow from around a vehicle or cleaning a road or driveway is not provided. If special equipment, more than one service vehicle or more than one person is required, the associated costs may be at your expense. Tire Service: The Club will replace a flat tire with the inflated spare from your vehicle. If more than one tire is deflated or if an inflated spare is not available, we will tow the vehicle. Tire service is excluded for dual wheel vehicles. Out of Fuel: A limited amount of fuel will be delivered to your disabled vehicle, enabling you to reach the nearest service station where fuel can be purchased. Payment for the fuel at prevailing pump rates must be made to the service provider upon 5 2 delivery. AAA Plus and AAA Premier members will not be charged for such limited amount of fuel. Lock-Out/Locksmith Service: If your vehicle’s keys are locked inside your vehicle, service is available to attempt to unlock your vehicle. If your vehicle key is lost, broken, or the service provider cannot gain entry, the Club will provide either locksmith service, a tow as allowed by towing eligibility rules, or reimbursement of commercial locksmith service up to $60. AAA Plus reimbursement up to $100 and AAA Premier members up to $150. Minor Repairs: Minor mechanical first aid will be attempted at the scene to place the disabled vehicle in a drivable condition when able to do so safely, conveniently, and effectively. These small repairs cannot be guaranteed and members should immediately proceed to a repair facility to consult a mechanic. Rental Replacement Vehicle Service: For those instances when your car is mechanically disabled and your vehicle is towed by AAA Missouri in your home club territory, AAA can help you arrange for a rental replacement vehicle at special member-only rates. Available in most areas, AAA-preferred car rental provider offices are able to provide local pick-up service in your neighborhood. AAA Plus and AAA Premier members are entitled to one car class upgrade on each vehicle rental, except that AAA Premier members cannot receive this upgrade when using their AAA Premier One Day Complimentary Rental benefit (available to each Premier member once per membership year). To find out if this service is available in your area, or to make arrangements for a rental replacement vehicle, simply call 1-800-AAA-HELP (222-4357). Eligible Vehicles The following motor vehicles are eligible for service, provided they qualify for highway registration and are not loaded, altered or constructed in such a way as to cause damage or create a hazard when being serviced: • Roadside Assistance Service is provided to four-wheeled motor driven vehicles of the passenger, pleasure, or recreational type, if those services can be safely delivered. Service does not include the use of medium duty or heavy duty wreckers for towing of vehicles too heavy to be safely towed using ordinary equipment, unless that equipment is the type being used by the provider on the call. Medium duty or larger equipment is typically required for vehicles exceeding 8,600 GVW. Rented passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles are eligible for service with the exclusion of for-hire vehicles, such as taxicabs and limousines. • Dual wheel pickup trucks are not eligible for tire service. • Recreational Vehicles (RVs), other than motorcycles, are eligible for all services with the exception of towing, extrication/winching and tire change service. Motorcycles are eligible for delivery of fuel and locksmith service. AAA Plus RV provides towing, extrication/winching and tire change services for RVs. RVs include motor homes, pickup trucks with campers, travel trailers (including fifth wheel), camping trailers, motorcycles, motorcycle and snowmobile trailers and boat trailers out of water. Service is not provided for horse/livestock trailers or car haulers/dollies. Services Not Included Vehicles and services that are NOT covered include: • Heavily loaded or over-sized vehicles in which towing, tire change, or extrication may not be safely performed using provided equipment. 6 2 • Service does not include the use of medium duty or heavy duty wreckers for towing of vehicles too heavy to be safely towed using ordinary equipment, unless that equipment is the type being used by the provider on the call. • Vehicles altered to the extent that special equipment is required to safely transport the vehicle. Certain after market options, such as snowplows or salt spreaders, may prevent the vehicle from being towed with automobile servicing equipment. • Vehicles in which parts have been removed or altered that make the vehicle inoperable (except by theft). • Vehicles that do not bear valid state license plates, have been towed under police order due to infractions, or are held under legal restraint. • Towing service is only provided for a covered vehicle disablement and will not be provided for the purpose of transporting vehicles due to a purchase, sale, auction transaction, car show exhibition, charitable donation, relocation or any other similar situation. • Vehicles that have been driven into an area which is not maintained as a road, or into an area or road that is flooded . • Tire repair, putting a replacement tire on your wheel, tire rotation, or the installation or removal of snow tires or chains. • Delivery of fuel when the vehicle is at a facility that sells fuel. • Fuel delivery for use in a portable or onboard generator, boat engine, snowmobile, or jet ski. • Service for trailers (unless the member has Plus/Premier RV membership and then only eligible RV trailers are covered). Service Providers Most AAA service providers are independent contractors and not agents or employees of the Club. In some areas service is provided by Club employees and Club owned vehicles. The Club cannot guarantee that they will have all of the parts or facilities you need for your car, nor will the Club accept responsibility for repairs, or the availability, delivery, or installation of parts. All parts used and services provided must be authorized and paid for by you. Any claim for damage caused by a service provider or Club employee should be reported promptly to the facility’s owner within 10 days of occurrence. If such a claim is not met to your satisfaction, please report it to the Club’s Field Operations Department within 30 days of claim damage. AAA will make an effort to mediate the dispute after an investigation. Excessive or Ineligible Use The most equitable way to ensure reasonable membership dues is to ask the few members who use Roadside Assistance Service excessively to share in the cost of providing this expensive service. Therefore, each AAA member is limited to four service requests per membership year at no charge. Your associate members have different membership numbers and are each entitled to four service requests. Service requests are not accumulative among members and are not transferable. The membership number used when requesting service will be the account charged with the service request. Although rules limit service to one request per problem, multiple service requests for the same problem will be counted separately on your service record. A service request is defined as the provision of any service listed in the “Type of Service Requests” section. First year members’ membership period begins from time of enrollment and continues until the members’ anniversary date. Each year thereafter, your 12 month membership period begins and ends on your anniversary date. Your official membership card is only effective if your current 7 annual membership dues are paid in full. You will be billed for any service obtained without paying your annual membership dues. For those times when it is necessary to exceed the four-request-per-year limit, service will be provided and you will be charged a service charge. Non-payment of a billed service charge will result in the cancellation of your membership and your associate memberships. Collection procedures will also be instituted. The Club reserves the right to cancel a membership(s) in which the privileges of membership have been abused. Without limiting any other rights or remedies it may have, AAA may seek reimbursement from a member or associate for roadside assistance services fraudulently or wrongfully obtained by the member or associate. Primary members are responsible for the conduct and the service demands of their associate. A complete accounting of your service requests can only be obtained by contacting the Service Review Department at 314-5237350, or 1-800-AAA-7623 ext. 6860, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. When traveling outside of the AAA Missouri territory, other AAA Clubs will not have access to your Roadside Assistance usage history. Reimbursements If you made a reasonable attempt to get help from the Club’s Member Services Center and were unable to do so, or if you were directed by the Club to seek commercial service, you may apply to the Club for reimbursement of the bill obtained from whatever nearby service facility was used. When applying, include the original itemized receipt on the billhead of the servicing firm which must contain the name of the member incurring the expense, and the following details: the nature of the trouble, the location, the date and time, and the amount paid. The application must be sent within 60 days after the incident to Roadside Assistance/Home Lockout Refund Department, 12901 North Forty Drive, St. Louis, Missouri 63141. Reimbursement application forms are available at any Club service office or online at AAA.com. Reimbursement will be considered only if it is a service allowed by these rules and if it is a covered service provided without charge, and all eligibility requirements have been met. The Club reserves the right to adjust a reimbursement application where the amount charged is higher than the prevailing commercial rate for that region and to deny or adjust a reimbursement application for service obtained from anyone not engaged in the automobile service or locksmith business. When AAA is not contacted, a valid membership card is not presented, or your membership dues were not paid at the time of service, the reimbursement will be adjusted according to the servicing contractor’s rate for that area. Extreme Weather The Club makes every effort to ensure that the provision of Roadside Assistance Service can be made under all conditions. When the weather or roads are extremely bad, however, there may be some delay before help can reach you. Because towing is by far the most time-consuming type of service the Club provides, towing operations may be temporarily suspended to avoid excessive delays to members waiting for other services. During such times, the Club tries to give priority to members stranded away from shelter. When such conditions exist, we ask you to please be patient – of course you can seek help from any nearby station. Emergency Repair Check Guarantee The Club guarantees your personal check drawn for an amount not over $250, given as payment to any AAA contracted service provider for roadside assistance or repairs that are required as a result of the breakdown of the car you were driving. If the bank dishonors your check, the Club will reimburse the service provider and will attempt to collect from you. If you fail to make good on such a loss, collection procedures will be instituted and your membership may be subject to non-renewal or cancellation. 8 AAA Plus and AAA Premier AAA Plus, AAA Plus RV, AAA Premier and AAA Premier RV are enhanced membership levels available at an additional cost. They expand on the benefits offered by the Classic membership. Extended benefits are effective seven days after the date of sale, if paid in full. AAA Plus AAA Plus provides all the benefits of the Classic membership, plus the following additional Roadside Assistance related benefits on your allowable calls. • Towing to any destination within 100 driving miles of the breakdown on your allowable service calls. • An additional truck and driver for one hour for the extrication of covered vehicles. • Delivery of a limited amount of fuel free of charge. • Up to $100 reimbursement for parts and labor of a locksmith, when required. If the AAA Plus member elects to have his or her car towed back to the servicing contract station after a breakdown and that station is unable to make the necessary repair or the member chooses not to have the car repaired by the contractor, the member is entitled to a tow to another service facility within the towing benefit limits provided by the membership. AAA Premier AAA Premier provides all the benefits as AAA Plus, plus the following additional Roadside Assistance related benefits. • AAA Premier extends the towing benefit to any destination within 200 driving miles of the breakdown on one of your four allowable service calls per member per year. The remaining service calls may be used for tows of up to 100 driving miles. • Up to $150 reimbursement for parts and labor of a locksmith when required. AAA Plus RV and Premier RV Services AAA Plus RV and AAA Premier RV are enhanced membership levels available at an additional cost. They expand on the benefits offered by AAA Plus and AAA Premier respectively by extending Roadside Assistance to Recreational Vehicles (RVs). Covered RVs include motor homes, pickup trucks with campers, travel trailers (including fifth-wheel travel trailers), camping trailers, motorcycles, motorcycle and snowmobile trailers and boat trailers. Coverage is not provided for horse/livestock trailers, for utility trailers, for boat trailers in water, or other trailers not containing living accommodations or not carrying a boat, motorcycle, or snowmobile. A seven-day wait period exists from the date of sale prior to use of the extended benefits. For AAA Premier RV members, one of the four allowable service calls can be a tow of up to 200 driving miles for a Recreational Vehicle, but will be limited to one per household per year. Whatever type of truck or special equipment is required to safely provide covered services for eligible RVs will be used. In the event an RV is disabled while pulling a trailer covered by the rules, including fifth wheel trailers, a tow will be provided to the disabled vehicle and the trailer. Car haulers/dollies are not a covered trailer. However, if the vehicle typically used by the member to pull an RV is a heavy duty vehicle (typically over 8600 GVW), and is NOT towing an RV trailer, then towing service would be at the member’s expense if the vehicle cannot be safely towed with the equipment provided by the service provider. If the tire of an RV cannot be changed, or if the RV is a motorcycle, towing of the RV will be provided. 9 Automotive Services Battery Service AAA Battery Service is a mobile battery testing and replacement service. In areas where the service is available, a AAA Battery Service technician will test and assess the vehicle’s battery and electrical system. If the existing battery fails the test and the member would like to have the battery replaced, the technician will install a new AAA battery, if available, that meets or exceeds the vehicle’s original specifications. All AAA batteries come with a 72-month limited warranty with a 36-month free replacement period valid in the U.S. and Canada. Copies of the warranties are available from the technician at any time upon request. AAA Battery Service is generally provided by independent service providers and is only available in select areas, during select hours. Batteries and battery warranties are provided by independent suppliers. AAA Batteries are available for most makes and models and can be purchased at the scene of disablement. Membership Roadside Assistance terms and conditions apply. To find out if this service is available in your area, simply call 1-800-AAA-HELP (222-4357), or use our online battery instant quote tool at AAA.com. Members are not bound by AAA’s decision and may seek other recourse. 2. Free Maintenance Inspection – Members can get a free 40-point maintenance inspection, including a comprehensive battery test and brake inspection, with any paid service. 3. Warranty – All repairs are guaranteed by the facility for 24 months or 24,000 miles, whichever occurs first, under normal operating conditions, unless otherwise stated in writing. Cannot be combined with any other discount or coupon. A valid AAA membership card must be presented at time of service. To find an Approved Auto Repair facility visit our web site at AAA.com/repair, or call 1-800-222-7623, ext. 8161. Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Etching Etching the VIN on a vehicle’s windshield and other glass is a significant vehicle theft deterrent. Thieves will usually pass them up in favor of an un-etched auto. The Automobile Club Inter-Insurance Exchange offers a 5% discount off comprehensive coverage on VIN-etched vehicles. For VIN-etching locations or to schedule an appointment, call 1-800-222-7623, ext. 6821. Used Vehicle Certificate * Exclusive Premier Membership Benefits AAA Premier members have access to the highest level of value-added member services and benefits. Covered locksmith services are limited to the cost of re-keying, changing locks, or making a new key in order to gain entry to the home from outside, or if the keys are lost or stolen. Any charges in excess of $100, as well as all charges associated with any other residential locksmith services, are at the member’s expense. Home lockout service is limited to one usage per AAA Premier household per membership year, but is not counted as one of the four allowable Roadside Assistance Service requests. Home lockout service is reserved for a AAA Premier member’s primary residence within the area served by AAA Missouri only and excludes all other buildings or locked areas. Home lockout service is not transferable to any other person. The AAA Premier member must be present and have photo identification and proof of residence. In the case of rental property, approval of the property owner may be required. See the Reimbursements section for additional information on obtaining reimbursement for home lockout service. One Day Complimentary Car Rental If your vehicle is towed by AAA Missouri in your home club territory and you are stranded without transportation, just ask us for help! We’ll arrange a standard class rental car for one day at no charge from a AAA preferred rental car provider. (Rental cars are subject to availability.) With AAA Premier, each cardholder is entitled to a one-day standard class rental car per membership year, when the tow is one of the four allowable Roadside Assistance calls. Service must be provided by the preferred rental car provider and arranged through AAA. The AAA Premier member has up to 48 hours from the time of the tow to call AAA and request the one-day complimentary rental car.
