Launched in 2011, the HACR Corporate Achievers Summit™ (CAS) was created to offer Young
Hispanic Corporate Achievers™ (YHCA) a platform to network with previous YHCA classes and
participate in training sessions that use critical thinking to become better executives and leaders
within their companies in order to fuel the pipeline in Corporate America.
HACR CAS participants are moving rapidly within their corporations and industries, finding new
opportunities and challenges. This program is designed to address those challenges, provide

Ford’s Sustainability
Environment and
Safety Engineering
department. She
supports sustainability
initiatives and new vehicle
programs, and environmental compliance for
U.S. and Latin American facilities. In 2014,
Arana Sanchez led the development of
“Best in Ford”, a sustainability program
aimed to reduce waste and water usage at
Ford Manufacturing facilities by identifying
the best performer and sharing global
best practices.

is the area president
for the San Diego
Community Bank in
Southern California. An
18-year banking veteran,
Arredondo oversees 837
financial professionals
and 55 retail stores, with over $4.9 billion in
total deposits and $1.5 billion in total loans.
Ford Motor Company
She began her career at Ford in 2005 after
earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in
mechanical engineering from the University
of Illinois. She held a position with Ford’s
Global Policy department, where she led the
development of Ford’s CO2 manufacturing
strategy and implemented processes to
meet mandatory Greenhouse Gas (GHG)
requirements. She is also responsible for the
development of Ford’s first GHG inventories in
Asia Pacific and Latin America.
Wells Fargo & Company
Arredondo serves as the board’s director,
chairing the Finance Committee for the San
Diego Chamber of Commerce. He also serves
on boards for Father Joe’s Villages, LEAD San
Diego, Big Brothers and Sisters of San Diego
County, the San Ysidro Education Vanguard,
and is a foundation trustee for UCSD.
Arredondo was recognized amongst the
“Top 40 under 40” business executives by
San Diego Metro magazine in 2013 and was
recently invited to join the Stanford University
Latino Entrepreneurship board.
Arana Sanchez plays an active role in her
community. As part of the Ford Hispanic
Network leadership team, she leads the Ford
Hispanic Heritage event along with other
community events.

Karina Baril joined Lowe’s
in May 2014, as manager
of international operations
and development. In her
role, Baril is responsible
for accelerating the
growth of existing
international businesses
as well as developing and supporting the
broader international expansion strategy.

Prior to Lowe’s, Baril held multiple roles with
Walmart, including, director of strategy and
engagement for the Walmart Foundation
and director of mergers and acquisition
post-merger integration for Walmart
International.
Bandas-Franzetti has been with Dell since
1997, and prior to her current IT role, she led
many global functions and initiatives. Before
joining Dell, she held various roles in Puerto
Rico and the U.S., at places such as the U.S.
federal government patent office, Hewlett
Packard, and IBM.
Before starting her corporate career, Baril
served as program officer for the U.S.
Millennium Challenge Corporation and project
analyst for the U.S. Trade and Development
Agency. During her time with the federal
government, Baril identified investment
opportunities across Latin America that
contributed to economic development.
Bandas-Franzetti received a Bachelor of
Science in Industrial Engineering from the
University of Puerto Rico and a Master of
Science in International Logistics from the
School of Industrial & Systems Engineering
at Georgia Institute of Technology. She has
multiple U.S. patents in the manufacturing
field. She is part of the leadership board of
Dell’s Hispanic employee resource group,
Adelante, and serves as liaison for the Greater
Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Baril holds a Bachelor of Arts in International
Relations and History from Tufts University
and a Master of Business Administration from
Babson College.
In her free time, Bandas-Franzetti enjoys
traveling to new places, taking pictures,
dancing, and cooking with her husband Josh
and 12-year-old son, Marcus.

Edgar Bermudez is a vice
president and manager
for Wells Fargo’s Credit
Management group. He
leads a team of risk and
turnaround professionals
who manage commercial
credits in the Florida
region; specifically the Central and Southwest
Coast.
Consero Global
Prior to her new role, Benavides was the
chief financial officer/chief operations officer
for the National Society of Hispanic MBAs
(NSHMBA) where she was responsible for
helping its leadership define the strategic
direction of the organization.
Previously, Benavides was a senior finance
consultant overseeing the Global Audit and
Transformation budget that included 300+
employees across the world including roles
as a revenue recognition leader for the
Services Accounting team, global lead analyst
for the Consumer/Small-Medium business
group, and as a senior audit consultant.
Benavides is also the former treasurer of the
NSHMBA National Board of Directors and
chair of the Audit Committee.
Benavides received a Bachelor of Science in
Mathematics from Texas A&M University and
holds a Master of Business Administration
from Texas State University in San Marcos,
Texas.
Wells Fargo & Company
Bermudez is responsible for leading,
directing, and providing guidance to a
team of more than 12 direct reports and
administering a portfolio of $600 million in
commercial loan assets.
Bermudez has worked for Wells Fargo for
five years and is a member of the Credit, SBA
& BBSG Diversity Council. Prior to joining
the Credit Management group, he was a risk
manager in the wealth markets.
Bermudez earned a Bachelor of Science in
Finance with a minor in Economics from the
University of North Carolina at Charlotte,
a Juris Doctor degree from Universidad
Bicentenaria, Venezuela, a Master of
Business Administration and a Master of Arts
in Organizational Change Management from
Pfeiffer University; and is currently pursuing
another Master of Business Administration
from Wake Forest University.

Campos attended California State University,
Northridge, where he received a bachelor’s
degree in business administration. Active
in his community, Campos currently serves
on the board of directors for Clear Passage.
He is also involved in the Latino Business
Administration, Sierra Lakes PTA, and the
United Way.
Prior to joining Veritiv, Borda was responsible
for leadership development at SunTrust
Banks, Inc. He built his expertise in talent
management through advising some of
the largest companies in the world, having
worked for well-recognized consulting firms,
including IBM and Deloitte. Borda has crafted
learning and development strategies, led
diversity recruiting and retention programs,
overseen strategic change initiatives, and
redesigned organizational structures
and processes in complex IT and HR
transformations.
Borda holds a Master of Business
Administration from Georgia State University
and obtained his Bachelor of Arts in
International Studies from Emory University.
He also holds the SPHR professional
designation and is a certified human capital
strategist. He was named a 2012 HACR
Hispanic Young Corporate Achiever™ and was

and economics. Currently,
she is part of the Application Services
Commercial and R&D Leadership team
with responsibility for global digital delivery
process.
MGM Resorts International
She serves as the chair of the MGM Resorts
International Hispanic/Latino network group
and sits on the boards for the Women’s
Chamber of Nevada and the Congressional
Award of Nevada. She is also a member of the
Mirage CSR Council and the Las Vegas Latin
Chamber of Commerce.
She has been a member of HOLA, the
Hispanic employee resource group of
Johnson & Johnson, since 2001. She joined
the senior leadership team in January 2012
and co-leads HOLA’s Support Business
Growth strategy.
She received her bachelor’s in hotel
administration from the University of Nevada,
Las Vegas and participated in the Summer
Studies in Switzerland Program which
allowed her to attend HIM in Montreux, IHTTI
School of Hotel Management in Neuchatel,
and the Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne in
Lausanne.
She was also selected to participate in MGM
Resorts’ Leadership Institute program and
is a two-year recipient of the J. Terrence
Lanni Award for Excellence, MGM Resorts

2002 and since then, he
has been progressively
growing in different roles
including operations
management, materials
management, lean
manufacturing, project execution, and
plant management for the last nine years.
Currently, he manages the Border Operations
(BOP) plant with 1,000 employees and close to
$4 billion in sales.
Nydia Correa is a
robustness engineer
process lead in General
Motors’ (GM) Product
Engineering Quality (PEQ)
organization. In this role,
Correa is responsible
for ensuring the proper
execution of engineering design tools to
achieve quality targets in future vehicle
programs. Correa joined GM in 2007 and
transitioned to the PEQ organization in 2011.
General Electric
Under Cisneros’ leadership, BOP has grown
from $185 million in sales to $1 billion by
2015 through NPI and TOW. The operation is
VPP star certified where people engagement
was mentioned as best in class. The plant
has received multiple awards in operational
excellence; for example, “Best Lean Project
Globally” and “First Global Lean Six Sigma
Certified Line.”
Cisneros graduated with a Bachelor of
Science in Industrial Engineering from Juarez
Institute of Technology (ITCJ) and a master’s
degree in finance from Monterrey Institute
of Technology (ITESM). He is APICS, CPIM
(Certified Production and Inventory Manager)
and Six Sigma green belt certified.
General Motors
Correa has demonstrated a profound
commitment towards philanthropy as the GM
Hispanic Initiative Team (GMHIT) community
service lead, as A World in Motion program
coordinator and as a Latin Americans for
Social and Economic Development tax
assistance program volunteer.
Correa obtained a bachelor’s degree in
industrial engineering in 2006 from the
University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez and
obtained a master’s degree in automotive
engineering from the University of Michigan,
Ann Arbor in 2011. Correa completed a
graduate certificate in Customer Value
& Market Success at Stanford University
and participated in SHPE’s 2014 Executive
Leadership Institute program. Correa is
also a Certified Manager in Quality and a
DFSS black belt. Nydia has been a GMHIT
executive board member since 2013 and
is the current ERG treasurer and interim
communications lead.

the brewer’s corporate
responsibility strategy.
She oversees all civic
leadership and economic empowerment
initiatives and serves on several national
corporate alliance boards on behalf of
MillerCoors.

Diehl also serves on various committees
within the organization such as the Marketing
Compliance Committee and the Diversity
and Inclusion Council. She began her career
in communications and managed media
relations for multiple global brands in
industries such as technology, automotive,
consumer packaged goods, and alcohol.
Diaz is the co-chair of Johnson & Johnson’s
Hispanic ERG, HOLA, and represents Johnson
& Johnson at various diversity events. He is
also the chair of the ERG subcommittee to the
LGBT Chamber of Commerce, and he actively
engages with the U.S. Hispanic Chamber
of Commerce and its affiliate chambers in
supplier diversity and multicultural marketing
initiatives.
Certified as a Six Sigma black belt and project
management professional, Diaz holds a
bachelor’s degree in industrial and systems
engineering from Florida International
University and a Master of Business
Administration from Rutgers Business School
in New Jersey. Diaz enjoys traveling, Latin
dancing, and spending time at the beach with

Sylena Echevarria is an
assistant vice president
in the client services area
of USIG Operations at
MassMutual.
Raul Duany is senior vice
president of corporate
communications for the
American Cancer Society,
the largest voluntary
health organization in
the United States, which
is four million strong.
In this role, he is charged with strategic
communications to engage and inspire
stakeholders committed to saving lives and
creating a world with less cancer by helping
people stay well, get well, find cures, and
fight back.
Since joining MassMutual
in 1997, Echevarria
has held a variety of
roles, with the past 14 years spent leading
financial and service oriented teams and
departments. In her current role as the head
of USIG Life & DI Post Issue Operations and
Tax Administration, she provides operational
and strategic leadership and oversight of
an organization comprising more than 130
team members across Springfield, Mass.
and Phoenix, Ariz. She defines and executes
on strategic initiatives and business process
improvements, and is accountable for the
attainment of all service, quality, productivity,
budget, and key performance goals.
Before joining the society in 2014 as a
member of the executive management team,
he worked in several strategic and corporate
communications roles with international and
global companies such as Western Union
Financial Services and Royal Caribbean
Cruise Lines. Prior to that, he served in the
U.S. Army and in senior civilian leadership
positions with the U.S. government including
the Pentagon’s U.S. Southern Command, and
in various assignments with the U.S. Army,
U.S. Navy, and U.S. Immigration.
Echevarria is the chair of MassMutual’s
Hispanic employee resource group, ALMMA
(Association of Latino’s at MassMutual &
Allies). She is also a 2014 recipient of the
Young Hispanic Corporate Achiever™ award
offered through the Hispanic Association on
Corporate Responsibility.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in advertising
and had completed numerous graduate-level
courses in journalism, public relations, and
strategic communications. He served on
the first-ever Western Union Executive InResidence program in New Delhi, India, and is
recipient of HACR’s Young Hispanic Corporate
Achiever™ award, among other awards.

of excellence. Prior to joining ESPN, she
provided HR support and leadership to the
sales organization at Revlon, Inc.

Fagnilli acts as a liaison for the Latin America
business units in her role as Latin America
policy lead at Janssen Pharmaceuticals, a
Johnson & Johnson company. She brings
her knowledge and perspective of the
region’s rapidly-changing political and
business environments to provide policy
and intelligence support regarding the Latin
America region.
Since 2007, Fagnilli has been involved in
Johnson & Johnson’s Hispanic employee
resource group, HOLA, where she has served
in positions of increasing responsibility.
Today, she is the chair of HOLA’s senior
leadership team and its Center of Excellence.
She oversees HOLA’s global strategic plans
and provides support in a wide range of
areas.
In 2013, Fagnilli received the Young Hispanic
Corporate Achievers™ award. She was also
accorded honorable mention in the LATINA
Style Executive of the Year program, based
on her evident excellence in corporate
leadership, mentorship, and her remarkable
dedication to working with Hispanic
communities.
ESPN
Fernandez is passionate about learning and
development for herself and others. She
participated in NAMIC’s Leadership Program,
the ESPN’s Mentoring Program, and is
actively engaged in the Disney “Heroes Work
Here” campaign.
She gives back to the community through
her involvement with the HISPA role model
program. HISPA’s mission is to inspire and

Protection portfolio.
Tavarez’s passion and energy are also evident
in his support of diversity awareness and
inclusion initiatives and his commitment to
volunteering in the community.
Tavarez received a Bachelor of Science in
Chemical Engineering from Rowan University
and later received his Master of Business
Administration from Drexel University.
He also is a certified green belt and lean
practitioner. He is of Puerto Rican descent
and was born and raised in New Jersey.
General Electric
He served as the GE Hispanic Forum (HF)
national community service leader for three
years, where he led a team of 50 volunteer
leaders and 4,000 volunteers to commit
over 20,000 hours of service annually.
His community service efforts have been
focused on improving health awareness
and educational opportunities for Hispanic
and African American communities. He
founded the GE HF/HSF scholarship program
in 2010, which has given over $350,000 in
scholarships and mentored over 250 STEM
college students across the U.S. and Puerto
Rico.
He lives in Chicago but is originally from
Southern California and received his
bachelor’s degree from California State
Fullerton, a Master of Arts from Dallas
Theological Seminary, and a Master of
Business Administration from Emory’s
Goizueta Business School.

Trujillo has proven across the United States
that he can be a continual student within
the leadership ranks to achieve incredible
results.
Carlos Villasana is a
senior manager on Capital
One’s Payment Operations
team. During his six years
at Capital One, Villasana
has held multiple
customer experience and
servicing strategy roles.
Prior to Capital One, he was responsible for
launching several start-ups of his own and
managed continuous improvement programs
for large multinational companies.
Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.

He is a member of Capital One’s Hispanic
network leadership team and an active
volunteer in his community, dedicating time to
the Latino Education Advancement Program
and for the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of
Commerce outreach programs.
As a former senior director of operations
with advanced degrees in both business and
operations, he was able to make incredible
financial improvements in multiple markets.
Trujillo is considered to be a leader of
leaders, consistently achieving results,
and engaging leaders throughout the
organizations he serves. His leadership
style of connections to his teams through his
humble approach elevates him for continued
success. He is passionate, articulate, and
capable in all that he does.
