You’ll be swept away by the silken and sensuous Pierrot story for cello, the monolithic Brahms/Paganini variations and the sweeping Norwegian landscapes of the Grieg Quartet in g minor, Op. 27. Old friends and new grace the Innsbrook stage for this enticing season opener. The effusive and impassioned Fauré Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 1 in A Major, Op. 13 is framed by works of elegance, élan and virtuosity. A postcard invites you to experience a location vicariously. Lake Aspen Stage/7 p.m. Saturday, June 12 — Music of the Night Seth Carlin, David Requiro, David Halen and All-Stars After watching the sunset on Lake Aspen, retire indoors for a musical nightcap with David Halen and friends. Concluding with the velvet textures of the Brahm’s Piano Quartet No. 1 in g minor, Op. 25, the evening will glitter and glisten like the night sky. Conference Center, 9 p.m. Sunday, June 13 — 110 in the Shade Andrés Díaz, Biava Quartet and Chee-Yun Sizzling is the only word to summarize the evening’s offerings. Conference Center/7:30 p.m. Monday, June 14 — Bluegrass Meets Classical Gilles Apap & Friends Join us for this FREE concert at Innsbrook’s historic log cabin (south of Alpine Dam). Named “The Violinist for the Next Millenium” by Strad magazine, Gilles is a classical musician of the highest standing, but he is also an aficionado of fiddle music. He will present a wonderful morning of great fiddle tunes mixed in with a few surprises in a beautiful, pastoral setting. Bring your picnic baskets and lawn chairs to this event. 10 a.m. Monday, June 14 — Toward the Light Mark Sparks, Yolanda Kondonassis, Erin Schreiber and Innsbrook Orchestra Music that elevates, transports, transcends. The sublime and serene Concerto for Flute, Harp and Orchestra in C Major, K. 299 by Mozart paired with Beethoven’s noble and enobling Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 61. Starting off with the Viennese favorite Wiener Blut Waltz, by Johann Strauss. Our own Innsbrook alum, Erin Schreiber, now SLSO Assistant Concertmaster, takes the stage as our violin muse. Conference Center, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 15 — Sparkling Jewels Andrés Díaz, Jacob Braun and Gilles Apap Two great treasures of the repertoire, timeless classics of eternal effervescence and appeal. The deeply eloquent Schubert String Quintet in C Major, D. 956, Op. Posth. 163 performed with two Naumburg-winning cellists, and the vividly picturesque Vivaldi’s Four Seasons in a unique presentation fronted by Gilles Apap, harpsichordist Maryse Carlin, with academy artists and students. Concluding with a pianistic feat of epic proportions, Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. Conference Center/7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 17 — Fine Tapestries Grace Fong, Chee-Yun, Ricardo Morales and Amy Oshiro-Morales Like choicest fabric of spun gold, folds of deep velvet and streaming satin, the deeply felt Fauré Sonata for Violin & Piano No. 1 in A Major, Op. 13 is performed by Chee-Yun and Grace Fong (unofficially dubbed the Velocity Sisters after last summers’ stunning collaborations). Philadelphia Orchestra Principal Clarinetist Ricardo Morales is joined on stage by wife Amy Oshiro-Morales and Innsbrook string artists for Brahms’ Clarinet Quintet in B minor, Op. 155. Conference Center/7:30 p.m. Friday, June 18 — Beauty and Brilliance Ricardo Morales, Grace Fong and Innsbrook All-Stars Some pieces move from the sublimely beautiful to the dazzlingly brilliant all in one fell swoop. The Sonata for Clarinet & Piano by Leonard Bernstein begins gracefully and concludes theatrically.
