THE RESURRECTION NEWSLETTER 4TH SUNDAY OF ADVENT WWW. RCCHOUSTON. ORG DECEMBER 22, 20 1 3 Actions speak louder than words...or so the saying goes. When we speak, the words dissipate into the air and extinguish as soon as they brush the ears of the listener. We can say, God bless! This in itself blesses the listener. Yet, when we serve them in charity, we become God's blessing. It is good to wish God's blessings upon the poor, the sick, the immigrant and the hungry. Those blessings truly descend upon them when we take action to help them. One fine example we see when we participate in the "Adopt a Family" program. When we do this, we enter into a deeper mystery. Love in action speaks louder than words. But is does more than that. We begin to live according to the pattern of God himself. How is that? "The Word became flesh, and made his dwelling among us" (John, 1). God's words are so powerful that they are actions in themselves. When God speaks, stars burn and creatures breathe. In a sense, all created things are God's words. And the rosetta stone of his language is the Word. The Word among us, the Christ child, unlocks the meaning of all creation and reveals to us its very meaning, the meaning of life, our life. The meaning can be summed up in one word: Love. This love creates and acts. This Love unites. This love speaks louder than all the words and all the actions contained in the universe. Yet, this very same love speaks gently in your life and through your life to others. Let the Word dwell in your life. Be the Word for others. This is the true meaning of Christmas. May the following words yield action in your life and mine: Merry Christmas! Fr. Christopher Plant, Pastor www.frplant.com Watch Fr.
