2013-2014 Portfolio Procedures and Guidelines

2013-2014 Portfolio Procedures and Guidelines
Nombre_______________________________________Hora____
1. You must do enough activities from this portfolio list to equal 25 POINTS for each quarter.
a) Activities may not be repeated for another quarter unless they have another entry line.
b) Extra points will not be given for doing extra work. For example, if you are required to play
online Spanish games for 30 minutes and you play for 60 you won’t get double the points.
c) All activities must be written in Spanish unless otherwise stated.
d) Do not plagiarize, copy another student, or allow your work to be copied. Those assignments
that appear to be copies or are plagiarized (copied word for word from your source without
giving credit) will receive NO points. If information has been plagiarized, additional points will
be subtracted from the final point total. Copying and pasting text directly from websites without
citing your sources is plagiarism—don’t do it!!
e) EXCESSIVE USE OF ONLINE TRANSLATORS WILL RESULT IN NO CREDIT. When
writing stories, sentences, dialogues, etc. stay within the vocabulary you have already learned in
class. Remember, Srta. Temple knows what you have learned. You can use online translators
as a basic dictionary for a few words, but do not use them for long sentences or paragraphs
because they are inaccurate and will use words that don’t exist (yes, it’s true!). Keep it simple–
stay within your vocabulary! Also, keep all writing appropriate for school.
f) You may not turn in projects you completed for Spanish class or other classes for your portfolio.
This work needs to be done specifically for your portfolio.
g) Two extra credit portfolio points will be given if all 25 points are completed and turned in on or
before the early extra credit dates listed below.
Portfolios are due as follows:

**If your packet is not handed in at the BEGINNING of class on the required date, you have one week
to turn it in late for half credit. If you are absent (an excused or unexcused absence) on the due date,
your portfolio is still due. Make arrangements to get it to school! **
Procedures:
1. Label each activity with the activity number, title, your Spanish name and last name, hour, and
the date. Put that information in any portfolio email subject heading as well! Any activity I can’t
figure out will receive a zero.
2. When you finish an activity, store it in your portfolio folder until ALL activities needed for the
quarter are completed. Then gather them together, complete the cover sheet (located in the front of the
file cabinet under “Cover Sheet”) put everything in your folder and turn it in to the teacher. You may
hand in your portfolio anytime during the quarter, but do not turn in work for future quarters and do
not turn in partially completed work expecting it to be held for future use.
3. Some activities (not all!) require pre-printed forms or directions. These forms will be available in
the file cabinet. They are filed under their activity number.
4. When you email portfolio work to Srta. Temple write your NAME, HOUR, and ASSIGNMENT
NAME in the subject line of the email! Send all portfolio emails to [email protected] (NOT Srta.
Temple’s personal email).
