SPAIN
Universidad Europea de Madrid
Centro Adscrito de Valencia
The Location:
Valencia, Spain’s third largest city, whose founding dates back to 138 B.C., is located on
Spain’s eastern Mediterranean coast and has population of around one million inhabitants.
Famous for its orange groves, avenues lined with palm trees, mild climate, sandy beaches
and friendly people, Valencia has conserved many of its ancient customs and traditions.
Valencia’s major commercial port was once an important link between the peninsula and
other Mediterranean countries. Its mild climate is one of the reasons it has become so
popular with visitors and the city has become a leading congress and conference venue in
Europe. Major multinational corporations such as Ford and IBM have made Valencia an
important European business center.
The University
Universidad Europea de Madrid – Centro Adscrito de Valencia is a 15 minute walk from the
city center, near the main universities of Valencia and close to the beautiful Viveros Park.
Academics
LHU students studying at UEM take Spanish language courses only. All classes are taught
in Spanish. Students are expected to have sufficient proficiency in Spanish (Level B1), both
oral and written, in order to succeed in their coursework.
Housing
Universidad Europea de Madrid – Centro Adscrito de Valencia is an urban campus and has
no residences for its students. To find suitable accommodations (share an apartment with
other students or live with a local family) students MUST contact UEM’s provider,
UNIVERSAL STUDENTS: www.universalstudents.es This service will find accommodation
and provide students with other useful information including travel, etc.
Air Travel
Students are responsible for making their own travel arrangements. Please see the LHU
International Office for assistance.
Tuition - LHU students continue to pay LHU tuition and fees while attending UEM- Centro
Adscrito de Valencia. Students are billed for tuition and fees plus an additional $150
International Service Fee. Keep in mind that all financial aid can apply toward your study in
Spain since you are participating in an LHU sponsored program. Students do not pay any
tuition or fees in Spain. There is, however, a fee to be paid for the Spanish Language course
(see the university website for details), and it will also be necessary to pay for activities such
as athletic club memberships, if you wish to utilize those services.
Non-LHU students are not eligible for this exchange program.
