It’s tax season and the TurboTax and Jackson
Hewitt programs are in full swing. 70 percent of
online tax filers file their returns between
January 15 and February 5, so marketing the tax programs early to your members
will allow them to take full advantage of the great savings on TurboTax Federal
Products and Jackson Hewitt services.
The Invest in America program offers free marketing materials to all credit unions
to help you promote your tax discounts to your members. The marketing
materials are available in the Partner Center at LoveMyCreditUnion.org. If you
don’t have Partner Center access, click here and client support will get you set up
so you can start promoting the programs today.
TurboTax Program Marketing Tips:
1. Post Web banners on your website home page and online banking pages.
Free standard-size banners are available in the Partner Center of
LoveMyCreditUnion.org. We also provide services to credit unions to create

Regional Federal Credit Union
When asked why their credit union joined the Invest in America (IIA) program, REGIONAL Federal
Credit Union’s Director of Marketing and Business Development Kevin Kosek gave a simple yet
powerful response, “The better question is why wouldn’t we join?” With the discount program
from the beginning, REGIONAL felt it would be a good fit. Kevin explains, “Not many products in the
credit union world are true credit union products. Credit unions are about thrift, and this program
really helps our members save money.”
REGIONAL offers its members nearly every IIA partner discount but finds that the Sprint Credit
Union Member Discount and the Credit Union Member Discount from GM are the most popular
with its membership. But Kevin says there’s already significant member interest in Credit Union
Auto Club.
The credit union’s staff, which they call their team, are all big IIA fans as well. This is because
REGIONAL has a unique way of introducing its team to the partner discounts. “Our teams uses the
products like our membership does, and we encourage them to sign up for IIA and use it,” says
Kevin. “So, they can become experts on IIA. And when we launch discounts to members, the team

promotes IIA discounts, they put their own spin on it by creating their own marketing materials.
Kevin and REGIONAL are enthusiastic supporters of IIA, “There’s no excuse for a credit union to not
use IIA. For a small credit union, it’s a perfect fit. For a larger credit union, it’s a perfect fit. It’s a

A Look Back at 2013
Throughout 2013, Invest in America (IIA) has continued to grow and help credit union members
save on autos, wireless services and many of the products and services they use every day. Leagues
representing forty-seven states continued their support of the program and helped to increase the
number of participating credit unions to 3,560, a 3 percent increase for the year. But perhaps more
importantly, these credit unions represent 85 percent of credit union members nationwide, up from
83 percent a year ago.
IIA was created to provide members with discounts on products from strong recognizable brands
such as GM, Sprint, Intuit, Dell and TruStage. Since then, IIA has stayed focused on member discounts
as a way to help credit unions write more than 300,000 auto loans of nearly $7 billion, generate
much needed non-interest income, grow credit card transaction volume and balances and as a tool
to deepen the value of membership. GM and IIA worked collaboratively to provide an improved
platform to drive auto loans back to credit unions. As such, 2013 was the launch of real-time
authorization reporting for credit unions participating in the Credit Union Member Discount from
GM at a Premium level. This lets credit unions know immediately when members are seeking an
authorization code, enabling them to quickly reach out to those members to secure auto financing.
Along the way, members have used Invest in America over 3.4 million times to save over $800
million on products from well-known brands from the aforementioned partners, and additional
offers from Shop America and DIRECTV. IIA continued offering discounts from TurboTax and Jackson
Hewitt, and members were able to save up to $15 on TurboTax Federal tax online products and at
least $30 on Jackson Hewitt tax preparation services. And Dell still brings credit union members the
up to 30 percent off on computers, electronics and accessories, plus the Dell Advantage program
which offers additional service and protection on select computer packages.
In early 2013, the Invest in America mobile app made it easier for members to verify membership
for the Sprint Credit Union Member Discount. This allowed the IIA Sprint program to once again pay
out millions of dollars in marketing incentives to supporting credit unions in December.
Other noteworthy news from 2013 includes new discount programs including the Credit Union
Auto Club and ADT – the credit union member plan for security solutions, which has launched in
Michigan. Credit Union Auto Club gives members significant savings on roadside assistance
compared to competing auto club programs. Plus, IIA was launch to offer a Credit Union Auto Club
promotional portal in September that enables credit unions to purchase up to 100 memberships at
once, with saving of $10 off per membership.
Numerous fourth quarter enhancements were made to the credit union scorecard including enhanced
reporting, loan link designation and the ability for credit unions to designate report recipients.
