RICHMOND PARK WALKS

Richmond Park walks
A haven for walkers, runners and cyclists, with a variety of paths
and trails.
The park offers a variety of flat and hilly routes, with options for short easy
walks or longer more strenuous ones.
The park is open from 7am in the summer and 7.30 am in the winter,
and closes to traffic at dusk all year round.
Transport:
Train: Norbiton Station and Richmond train and tube.
Bus: 65, 371, 85, K3, 265.
By car: Parking in designated car parks marked on the map.
Points of interest:
• Richmond Park is 1000 hectares (2,500 acres) the largest Royal Park
in London. It has hills, woods and lakes, and is famous for its ancient oak
trees, some dating from the late middle ages.
• Wildlife: Home to 650 free roaming red and fallow deer; with rich birdlife,
and rare insects, plants and fungi.
• Isabella Plantation: A woodland garden with ponds, streams, stepping
stones, woodland glades and a range of exotic plants.
• Pembroke Lodge: A beautiful Georgian Mansion in 13 acres of elegant
grounds with rose beds, magnolias and huge oak trees. King Henry’s
Mound provides spectacular views across London to St Paul’s Cathedral.
• Sport and leisure: Richmond Park has many walking groups including a
weekly Walk4Life. Two 18 hole golf courses. Local horse riding stables use
the park. Cycle hire is available for adults and children (cycling is allowed
only on roads and designated paths). Fishing at Pen Ponds by paid permit
in season. Power kiting is taught all year round.
• Eating and drinking: At Pembroke Lodge and Roehampton Caf.
Refreshment points: At Broomfield Hill and Pen Ponds car parks.
• Public toilets (including disabled) are situated near selected park gates.
