Composed an adaptation of Plaeng Pae (Sam Chun) for Ranaad-Ek. MUSIC CARRER HIGHLIGHTS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS Thaworn Sriphong began his music career at the very young age. He first learned the arts of Thai classical music at age seven from his father, Sawong Sriphong, an accomplished Xylophonist. He also studied extensively from some of the best music teachers and mentors such as the renowned Artist of Thailand, Mr. Prasit Thaworn, as well as many members of the faculty of Dramatic Arts College, Chulalongkorn University, and Srinakarintharavirote University at Prasaanmit. While he masters the arts of playing Ranaad Ek, a Thai Xylophone, Sriphong's expertise extends to many different types of Thai classical instruments. A highly accomplished artist, Sriphong plays countless numbers of repertoires in various disciplines such as Plaeng Home-Roeung, Plaeng Thao, Plaeng Thub, Plaeng Say-Pa, Plaeng Deou (Solo), Plaeng Ra-Bum, Plaeng Nah-Paat, Plaengs La-Kon. As a soloist, Sriphong's accomplishment is second to none. He masters the highest level of difficulty pieces such as Krao-Nai and Tha-Yoy Deou. His musical skill and artistic ability also enables him to perform Plaeng Ong-Pra-Pi-Raap, a piece in the Plaeng Nah-Paat's category with highest level of difficulty. Sriphong continuously pushes himself to a higher level of mastery. He has participated in at least 20 contests among master musicians. He keeps a busy schedule performing for a live audiences as well as for television viewers both in Thailand and abroad. His performance as a Ranaad Ek soloist in Concerto Maharaja at the King Phumipol's birthday celebration in 1999 is the highlight of his music accomplishments. In Japan, Sriphong delighted audiences that included Japan's Crown Prince and Princess with solo performances of Lao-Pan, Ah-Nu and Tha-Yoy Deou. He mesmerized audiences in Texas, Chicago (Illinois), Kent (Ohio), Pittsburgh (Philadelphia) with rare solo performances on two Ranaad Eks at the same time. In May 2001 he's made his historic mark in Seattle, WA (USA) by being the only Thai nationality who has ever performed with four Ranaad Eks at the same time outside of Thailand. The repertoires at his solo performance at Benaroya Hall's Soundbridge include Krao-Nai, Tha-Yoy Deou, Cheod-Nauk, LaoPan, Ah-Nu, Khaek-Maun, and Paya-Sok. When Sriphong is not performing, he teaches his craft at Chitlada School on the Palace ground in Bangkok, Thailand. His students from Chitlada School received first-place award seven times in Mahori category, both first- and second-place in Ranaad Ek solo Mai-Nuam contest, Ranaad-Ek Mahori contest, Kong-Wong contest, and received first-place award in percussion category for Tone and RumMana. His students at Bangkok Christian Academy also won both first- and second-place awards in Ranaad-Ek Mai Khaeng. When Sriphong is not teaching music, he's often invited to be a judge for contests of Ranaad-Ek soloist events such as the "Pralong Plaeng, Praleng Mahori" and at PranakornNeah College of Education. He has been appointed to oversee the music education of Her Serene Highness Siriwonwalee Mahidol, daughter of His Royal Highness, The Crown Prince of Thailand. He accompanied and performed in a royal concert with Her Royal Princess Somdej PraThepRatana Siambaromrachakumari at UNESCO in Paris, France. Sriphong also edited the music scores for stringed instrument, Saw-Duang, composed for a robotic musician for a television program "Khun Khaw Ma," produced by KraChomKlao PraNakorn Neah Institute of Technology. Currently, Sriphong is an active member and participant of various ensembles including his father's "Khun Paw Sawong Sriphong," Sillapakamsaat Ensemble at Chulalongkorn University, Chitlada Palace Ensemble and Klong Teou Palace Ensemble.
