LCD Screen Put it in your pocket or purse, or hang it from the included lanyard. It will track steps and miles traveled, plus calories and fat grams burned. Press the SET key to select your minutes. Note: The SmartStep™ Pedometer uses 24 hour (military time) to allow for daily reset. 5. T he weight number will blink on the LCD screen. 6. S et your weight by using the MEMORY/ and MODE/ buttons to scroll through the numbers. Holding down the MEMORY/ or MODE/ button will scroll through the numbers rapidly. Press the SET key to select your weight. 7. T he stride number will blink on the LCD screen. Setting Step/Stride Length You must set your step/stride length in the pedometer for it to accurately calculate distance traveled. 1. T ake five steps or strides and measure the distance covered in inches using a tape measure. Divide that number by five. This is your average step/stride length. 2. S et your stride length in inches by using the MEMORY/ and MODE/ buttons to scroll through the numbers. Holding down the MEMORY/ or MODE/ buttons will scroll through the numbers rapidly. 3. Just put the SmartStep™ Pedometer in your pocket or purse, or hang from the included lanyard, and the pedometer will automatically activate when you start moving. If you are going for a jog, affix the SmartStep™ Pedometer at waist height for the most accurate information tracking. Reading your results Today’s information To read today’s information, press MODE / to scroll through the steps, miles, calories burned and fat grams burned. While viewing miles, the duration of your activity time will appear in the lower left hand corner. Accumulated information 1. To scroll through the total of accumulated information, press and hold the MODE/ button while in Step Mode until you see the indicator arrow below TOTAL on the LCD SCREEN. 2. T he SmartStep™ Pedometer will automatically scroll through the total steps, miles and calories you have tracked. 3. P button ress the MODE/ again to discontinue scrolling the totals. The SmartStep™ Pedometer will go back to its counting mode. 4. T o see a total of tracked information on a specific previous day, press the MEMORY / button while in Step Mode to select the day (numbers 1 through 7 are shown to the right of the time), and then press MODE/ button to scroll through the steps, miles, calories and fat grams you have tracked on that day. 5. P button to ress MEMORY / scroll back to today to continue tracking your information. Note: The SmartStep™ Pedometer keeps track of your progress for up to 7 days at a time. The maximum step count is 999,999 steps. If this distance is reached before 7 days, or on the 8th day of information tracking, the unit will drop the first day tracked and begin a new day, so you will always be able to see your last 7 days of tracked information. Resetting Today's total 1. P ress and hold SET button, then press the MEMORY / button simultaneously. 2. S teps, Miles, Calories and Grams tracked for the current day reset to zero. Resetting the unit To clear all data and personal information and return to factory settings. 1. Press the RESET button on the back of the unit with a thin, blunt object. 2. T he hour number will blink on the LCD screen. 3. R eset the time, your weight and your stride length by following the instructions previously stated in this pamphlet. IMPORTANT: Do not use a sharp object to press the RESET button. This may damage the unit. Locking the unit The SmartStep™ Pedometer allows you to lock the buttons so they will not be accidentally pushed while the unit is in your purse or pocket. You cannot use the buttons until you unlock it. 1. T o lock the SmartStep™ Pedometer buttons, press both the MEMORY/ and MODE/ buttons simultaneously until you see the appear on the LCD SCREEN. 2. T o unlock the SmartStep Pedometer so you can use the buttons, press both the MEMORY/ and MODE/ buttons simultaneously until you see the disappear from the LCD SCREEN. ™ 3. T he SmartStep™ Pedometer will continue to track your progress while the unit's buttons are locked. Battery Replacement When the battery icon on the LCD SCREEN blinks, it is time to replace the battery. 1. O pen the BATTERY COMPARTMENT with a coin by lining up the arrow on the BATTERY COMPARTMENT COVER with OPEN. 2. R emove the spent battery and dispose of properly. Slide a new CR2032 battery into the BATTERY COMPARTMENT according to the polarity indicator. 3. P lace the battery door back on the BATTERY COMPARTMENT and twist with a coin to line up the arrow with CLOSE to secure. NOTE: Your settings and recorded information will not be saved while you are replacing the battery. Care and Maintenance Clean with a soft, dry cloth. Specifications Uses 1 CR2032 button cell battery (included). One (1) Year Limited Warranty Brookstone® warrants this product against defects in materials and/or workmanship under normal use for a period of ONE (1) YEAR from the date of purchase by the original purchaser (“Warranty Period”). If a defect arises and a valid claim is received within the Warranty Period, at its option, Brookstone will either 1) repair the defect at no charge, using new or refurbished replacement parts, or 2) replace the product with a new product that is at least functionally equivalent to the original product, or 3) provide a store credit in the amount of the purchase price of the original product. A replacement product or part, including a user-installable part installed in accordance with instructions provided by Brookstone, assumes the remaining warranty of the original product. When a product or part is exchanged, any replacement item becomes your property and the replaced item becomes Brookstone’s property. When a store credit is given, the original product must be returned to Brookstone and becomes Brookstone’s property. Obtaining Service: To obtain warranty service, call Brookstone Limited Warranty Service at 1-800-292-9819. Please be prepared to describe the product that needs service and the nature of the problem. A purchase receipt is required. All repairs and replacements must be authorized in advance. Service options, parts availability and response times will vary. You are responsible for delivery and the cost of delivery of the product or any parts to the authorized service center for replacement, per our instructions. Limits and Exclusions: Coverage under this Limited Warranty is limited to the United States of America, including the District of Columbia and the U.S. Territories of Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. This Limited Warranty applies only to products manufactured for Brookstone that can be identified by the “Brookstone” trademark, trade name, or logo affixed to them or their packaging. The Limited Warranty does not apply to any nonBrookstone products.
