Aaron Adler (Trinculo) is thrilled to make
his Madison theatrical debut! Ever since he
played God in kindergarten, it’s been all
downhill. More recently he’s performed on
stages everywhere from Chicago to New
Mexico, where he was last seen sharing the
stage with a live goat in a production of Mr.
Roberts. He’d like to give a shout out to his
lovely wife Lauren, his fabulous friends &
family, and all his inspiring students both
near and far.
Erin S. Baal (Director, Set Designer)
Erin’s most recent design work was seen
in Clybourne Park (Madison College), The
Rocky Horror Show (Mercury/OUT!Cast),
and Romeo & Juliet (Madison College). Her
most recent performance work was as
Mrs. Cratchit/Mrs. Fezziwig in A Christmas
Carol (CTM) and as Olivia in Twelfth Night
(Strollers). It has been some time since she
has directed, so she would like to thank
Kathleen and Isa for all of their advice, hard
work, and creativity!
Bri Baltes (Ceres, Mariner) last appeared
in Anton Chekhov’s Swan Song at Iowa
State University. Favorite past roles
include Queen Gertrude in Hamlet (Vandal
Theatre Lab) and Hattie in Laundry and
Bourbon (Iowa State University). More
recently, she has directed several shows
including Cortisol Rush (Left of Left Center
Productions), Much Ado About Nothing,
and Cyrano de Bergerac. Bri would like
to thank Bill, Ann, Grace, and all of her
friends at work for being so supportive and
encouraging.
Damon Butler (Alonso) has been seen
in Twelfth Night (Strollers), A Midsummer
Night’s Dream (Strollers), and Pericles
(Broom Street). He would like to send his
love to Kathy & James.
Carl Cawthorne (Gonzalo) is delighted
to be doing Shakespeare again. He was
seen in The Tempest with Sam White once
before, at the Wisconsin Shakespeare
Festival in 1982 (ouch). Favorite roles in
Madison include Tarleton in Misalliance,
Salieri in Amadeus, the Marquis De Sade
in Marat/Sade, and Polonius in Hamlet. As
always, much love to family and friends for
all their kind support.
Jim Chiolino (Producer) is thrilled to be
working on another MTG production and
so very excited for this wonderful trip to
“Another Part of the Island!” He wishes to
thank the cast and the crew, especially Phil
Koenig, Damon Butler, and the fabulous
Erin Baal. Thanks for everything else,
David.
Whitney Derendinger (Stephano) is
proud to join MTG for The Tempest. A
graduate of UW-Madison’s Master of Fine
Arts program, some of his recent work
includes Stevie in Good People (Forward
Theater), Fred in A Christmas Carol (CTM),
Nick in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (Alley
Stage), and Oberon in A Midsummer Night’s
Dream (CTM/Theatre LILA). Whitney is an
actor, stage combat choreographer, voice
and movement coach, and is currently
teaching at UW-Madison. All of my love to
my stellar wife Deb, whose drive, passion
for good storytelling, and boisterous laugh
recharge my own.
Max Fleckner Ducey (Ship Master,
Fairy, Juno) was seen most recently
as the Wicked Stepmother in Mercury
Players Theatre’s production of Gadzooks!
Cinderella! Other favorites include roles in
Twelfth Night, A Midsummer Night’s Dream,
and as Countess in Madwoman of Chaillot
for Strollers, and Mrs. Oxenham in Hot l
Baltimore for Madison Theatre Guild. Many
thanks to this delightful and talented cast
and crew. It has been a pleasure to play
with each and every one of you.
Mikhael Farah (Antonio) was last seen
playing Guido Contini in MTM’s production

of NINE. He does theatre all over Madison
and with different companies and is very
happy to be doing his first Madison Theatre
Guild production. Mikhael would like to
thank the cast and the lovely Lizzy Marr for
their support. He would like to dedicate his
performance to Elim, his lovely five year
old son.
David Heuer (Props, Set Dressing,
Poster) is finishing his 4th season with
MTG. He has also designed props and/or
dressed the set for Stage Q, Broom Street,
Four Seasons Theatre, and the Madison
Savoyards. He thanks Erin, Kathleen,
and the cast/crew for their assistance and
inspiration. He thanks Jim for everything.
Brenna Farmer (Costume Designer)
usually lurks in the shadows working
on costumes for other people’s shows
(Madison Opera, Madison Ballet, etc.). She
is delighted to have the opportunity to
design and build costumes for The Tempest.
She would like to thank Laurie Everitt for
her generous gift of fabric, Jenni Schwaner
Ladd for the loan of her administrative
equipment and constant encouragement,
Darrell Budic for his eternal patience and
support, and various other people who
will have lent her assistance and moral
support throughout this process long after
this goes to print. Finally, she would like
to thank the cast and crew for being an
inspiration and a joy to work with.
Jordan Humpal (Ferdinand) last made his
appearance in The Boy Friend for Madison
Theatre Guild. He is proud to be with MTG
for his first ever Shakespeare production!
Recent work includes roles in CTM’s Wizard
of Oz and MTM’s La Cage Aux Folles.
Jacob Fischer (Boatswain, Fairy,
Composer) last appeared as Capulet in
Romeo and Juliet for Madison College. He
would like to thank his family, friends, and
Hannah for their support.
Michael Rebekah Fleischman (Miranda)
was most recently seen (but not heard) in
Monster Boogie at Broom Street Theater.
Past credits include Spirits to Enforce with
Left of Left Center, and Twelfth Night with
Strollers. She is beyond excited to be
telling this story with the phenomenal
cast and crew, and is eternally thankful for
everything, and everyone, ever. You are all
much beloved.

Madison Theatre Guild
Phil Koenig (Lighting Designer) has been
lighting and stage managing for 30 years.
His last design for MTG was The Boy Friend
last fall. Phil is a three-time Bartell Theatre
award winner for lighting. He is very
excited to be able to again work on this
great play, having last lit it in college. He is
grateful to MTG for the opportunity, and
thanks his crew for making it happen.
Sean Langenecker (Caliban) has
previously portrayed Sir Andrew
Aguecheek, Puck, Pericles, Mercutio, and
nearly Diomedes. I daresay he likes doing
this Shakespeare crap. Coming up next, see
him in Casa Valentina. Hopefully he’ll be
prettier in that…
Isabella Anastasia Leigh (Stage Manager
& Artistic Consultant). Isa is extremely
excited and blessed to be working on The
Tempest with such an amazing cast and
crew. Recent stage managing projects
include Romeo and Juliet, Permanent
Collection (Madison College Performing
Arts), Naked at Amazo (Amaz(ing) Players
Company), and Heaven Can Wait (Verona
Area Community Theatre). She is a student
in Madison studying theatre with an

emphasis in directing. Isa volunteers as
an EMT in her hometown and is a house
manager at American Players Theatre
during the summer months. Forever thanks
to Erin and Libby the kitty.
Isaac Lind (Ariel) is excited to make his
debut at the Bartell with the Madison
Theatre Guild. Isaac has been in numerous
productions including appearances in
Romeo and Juliet, Midsummer Night’s
Dream, and recently, The Crucible and
Arsenic and Old Lace. Isaac would like to
send his love to his family, friends, and all
those who make him a better man (you
know who you are). Enjoy the show and to
God be the glory.
Steve Noll (Sound Designer, CoProducer) doesn’t know a lot about
Shakespeare, but he sure likes
thunderstorms and wind chimes. Thanks
to Cam for the added rumble and Jim and
Erin for the Bard.
Janine Puleo (Iris, Mariner) is making
her debut Madison performance in this
production of The Tempest. She is a senior
at UW-Madison majoring in Theatre and
Drama as well as Philosophy, Italian,
and Spanish. She is very grateful for
this opportunity and hopes to continue
working with MTG and other companies
in the future. She would like to sincerely
thank her friends and family for all of their
love and endless support through the
years.
Teresa Sarkela (Scenic Artist) is new
to the scene here in Madison. Originally
from the wide spaces and high altitudes
of Montana, she has been happy to lend
a brush to recent local productions with
Mercury Players and Strollers Theatre. She
is very excited to be a part of the creative
and collaborative minds of Wisconsin.
Sunny Schomaker (Mariner, Fairy) is
happy to be in her first Madison Theatre
Guild show. She was last seen in Broken
Dart Players’ Turkey Tribute and My Life Is a
Sitcom. Thanks to Karen and Dave for the
basement.
C. John Shimniok (Adrian, Sound
Technician) is excited by and grateful for
this opportunity to help bring this show
to life with such a wonderful and talented
cast and crew.
Kathleen Tissot (Assistant Director)
has done props design, costume design,
co-lighting design, directing, and acting
with several Madison area theatre groups
over the past 20 years. Next up is playing
the role of Rita in Stage Q’s Casa Valentina.
Thanks to Erin for letting me play with
fairies!
Michael Truman (Sebastian) returns
to the stage after a six year break. He is
excited to be working with MTG again.
He was last seen in The Crucible with St.
Bernard Players. Some of his favorite roles
have included Felix in The Odd Couple, Gus
P. Head in It’s Only a Play and Paul Bratter
in Barefoot in the Park. He sends his love to
his two Ds.
Sam D. White (Prospero) first appeared
in a MTG show in 1976 as a G-Man in You
Can’t Take it With You. Lot of water under
the proverbial bridge since then! More
recent projects include directing G. B.
Shaw’s Misalliance for Strollers Theatre
in March. Earlier this month, Mercury
Players Theatre staged Sam’s original
play, Coyote Moon, a winner of the 2013
Wisconsin Wrights New Play program.
Sam is a founding member of Madison’s
Forward Theatre, and serves on its Advisory
Committee.
