The buildings fronting onto the Park Promenade,
Lion Way and Chatteris Way will use brick as
their primary material, in colours referencing
buildings in the local area.
Interest and texture will be added to the
elevations by introducing patterns of different
types of brick colour. These patterns have
been inspired by the tones found in the area
and reference tile patterns found in the London
underground stations around Elephant Park.
Mansion blocks on New Kent Road will
closely match the colour of brick used in the
Rockingham Estate, whilst the patterns will help
transition to the lighter buff colour used on the
park edge.

The Faraday memorial
The tall building is located at the corner of New
Kent Road and Ash Avenue. The building is
25 storeys high with eight homes per floor and
flexible workspace and residential amenity at level
one. 100% of the homes are dual aspect.
The tall building on Plot H5 is also located at the
north west corner of the plot.
This position, at the junction of New Kent Road
and Lion Way, will allow for it to be read as a part
of a family of three tall buildings with those on
Plot H4, Plot H5 and Highwood Gardens, West
Grove. All three buildings are being designed
by the same architects and will complement one
another.
The look and feel of the tall building takes
inspiration from the an iconic building in the
area such as the nearby Faraday Memorial or
the Chrysler Building with metal cladding as its
principle material.

As shown in the initial sketches by the architects,
the tall building on Plot H5 will have a much
stronger expression of the vertical structure. It
will also have a more sculptural top.
These metal panels will be formed into concave
or convex profiles that will change the way light is
reflected off the surface of the building.
Balconies will add further interest and ensure its
residential use is expressed.
