OUR STUDENTS
Our school is situated in the city center. We have about 500 students, from 12 to 18
years old. They study Compulsory Secondary Education( from 12 to 16), Bachillerato
or Upper High Education (from 16 to 18), Vocational Training Hairdressing.
Bilingual programme. In 2013 we started a bilingual programme in the first year of
Compulsory Secondary Education. These students do Maths, Scienc, Music or
Technology in English and they have five hours a week of English language. This
programme will continue in the different years of Secondary Education.
Aula XXI. Programe based on the use of digital books, computers and tablets instead of
traditional paper books. It was also started in 2013 in CSE and next year will be started
in High Secondary Education.
In our school we can find students from different social levels. Some of them belong to
low middle classes who have suffered the European economical crises and whose
families are unemployed. Many of these students are migrants from Morocco.
On the other hand there is also a big group of students from middle and upper middle
classes who are studying to go to University.
LANGUAGES IN OUR SCHOOL
During the last years our school has worked hard to improve the English level of our
students with different actions.
Comenius linguistic assistant: from 2010 our school has always applied for a Comenius
linguistic assistant and we have had from 4 different nationalities.
Eramus interns: 2 interns during the school year 2014-2015.
Comenius projects: Our school has been involved in two Comenius projects,
multilateral associations, and we have applied for the new KA2 Erasmus+.
We have also applied for KA1 actions for some teachers to improve their knowledge on
New Technologies applied to Education and English language courses.
Exchanges: The school has had exchange programmes with schools in Denmark and
The Netherlands for three years.
Bilingual Program at school.
The experience of having someone from other countries in our school has been very
positive both for teachers and students. For that reason we would like to continue with
this action. The new Erasmus + programme does not offer schools the possibility to
apply for being a hosting school for linguistic assistants, but we can still offer our
school for those people who have finished their studies and want to come to our school
to do the practice period.
We need someone who wants to work and collaborate with us in the English department
and the different activities related to languages at school.
OBJECTIVES
-
Motivate our students in the learning of a foreign language
Teach them the English language as a means of communication
Improve their oral skills
Improve their possibilities of finding a job in the future through the learning of a
foreign language
Develop their feeling of being European citizens
Show them the existence of different cultures and way of living.
Encourage their participation in school trips and European programs and
projects.
TASK TO BE DEVELOPED
The assistant will mainly work with the English teachers. This person will come
with us into the classrooms and will help us in the lessons.
They will develop mainly those aspects related to the oral skills, listening, speaking
exercises, games, roleplays, etc. and also cultural aspects (English festivities).
They will also collaborate in the organization of the activities in the project Erasmus
+
They will help those teachers who are learning English to take part in the bilingual
program in the school.
They will also have the opportunity to teach our students some aspects of his culture
and language ( if it is not English).
We have proved experience in hosting linguistic assistants in our school, so we will
offer this person all the help needed to find a place to stay and all the information
needed to prepare the trip to our country.
