How to complete a ladder worksheet
In order to calculate finalists for Round Robin games it is necessary to work out the total points scored by each team, and in some
cases the percentages.
This is done by recording the points FOR each team, the points AGAINST each team and whether they won, drew or lost for each
game.
Each game needs to be recorded twice, once for each team. These entries will be mirror images of each other.
Step 1. In this example to the right you would take the first game, in which CCW1 beat HSHM1 with the score being 4 to 3, and
beside the first available slot for CCW1 on the ladder worksheet below you
would enter:
For: 4
Against: 3
W/L/D: W (for Win)
(see number 1 on the below example)
Step 2. You would then find the first available slot for HSHM1 and enter
the opposite:
For: 3
Against: 4
W/L/D: L (for Loss)
(see number 2 on the below example)
Note the circled entries on the two tables to see how these match up.
Step 3. Continue this process for each game until all have been entered.
Step 4. Once all games are entered you will need to add up the total points for each team. Look at the W/L/D row and add up 3
points for each win, 2 for each draw and 1 for each loss and put the total in the far right hand box. (see number 4 on the below
example)
This will give you a ‘points’ ranking for each team. If there are two teams with the same number of points that could qualify for the
finals you will then need to separate them by working out the percentage for each team that is tied.
Step 5. To calculate percentages add up the ‘For’ points for the row and put it in the box to the right, and do the same with the
‘Against’ row. (see number 5 on the below example)
Step 6. Use the calculator to divide the For points by the Against points then multiply by 100 and put the percentage in the Percentage
box. (see number 6 on the below example)
So in the example the final order would be:
First:
Second:
Third:
Fourth:
RNG1
CCW1
HSHM1
DCC1
9 Points
7 Points
4 Points (64%)
4 Points (60%)
5. Add up Points For and
Against for each row.
Step 1.
4.Add up 3 points for each Win,
2 for each Draw,
1 for each Loss
In this example:
2 wins = 6 pts
1 Loss = 1 pts
Total: 7 pts
Step 2.
6.
Percentage is:
Total For / Total Against * 100
So in this example:
7 / 11 * 100 = 64
