ISTANBUL MEDIPOL UNIVERSITY Course Learning Outcomes of HISTOLOGY & EMBRIYOLOGY Course Code and Title TF10915, DHF10915 - Hours Department / Programme School of Medicine/School of Dentistry (1. class) Language of Education Turkish Course Type Yes Lecturer(s) Prof.Dr.Tangül MÜDOK; Associated Prof.Dr. Esra CİKLER; Associated Prof.Dr. İlknur KESKİN Office Hours Every Wednesday 13.00-14.30 Course Objective The aim of this subject are to induce the students who acquire the basic theories and knowledge of the course and gain relative basic skill training. By studying, the students should achieve such level: --to distinguish the microscopic anatomy of the healthy human body; --correlate morphology and function at the molecular, cellular ,tissue and organ levels; --and relate cell biology and histology to disease processes. --describe the alteration in structure and function of the body and its major organ system resulting from different stages of embryonic cycle. By the end of the course the student, 1.1 identify the methods used for micro-preparation on cell and tissue level. 1.2 define the instruments used in cytology, histology and embryology. 1.3 classify microscope types. 1.4 describe morphology and functions of cells and organelles. 1.5 identify different cell types. 1.6 identify the line structure of the human cell types 1.7 define the mechanisms of mitotic and meiotic divisions 1.8 tell the micro-structure and function of varied composition of the tissue 1.9 tell the ultra-structure and different points between cell types of the tissue Learning Outcomes and 1.10 understand the general features and classification of the tissue. Subordinate Skills 1.11 describe the processes of formation of tissue and its remodeling 1.12 specify spermatogenesis, oogenesis and implantation 1.13 explain formation of bilaminar and trilaminar embryonic disc 2.1 they apply principles of the light microscope physics to determine various cells and tissue. 2.2 interpret and examine the electron micrograph 2.3 differentiate which of the cells undergo meiosis and mitosis under the microscope 2.4 identfy the staining methods and perform staining to some tissue section 2.5 examine the differet type of histological slides 2.6 examine the different sections Generic Competences Work in the lab and deal with different chemicals, avoid the hazards of some chemicals • Show respect to assisting personnel • Appreciate working with a teamwork • Effective use of a foregin language Microscope types 2.
