SAVINDANCELEBRATION-ANOTHERBIGSUCCESS
Ourparish’sannualSavindanCelebration,honoringourPatronSaint,SvetiSava,was
anotherhugesuccessthankstosomanyofourparishionersandtheirchildren.OnSaturday
membersofLoyalOrder,alongwithothervolunteers,setupthegymwithcloseto50tables
and600chairs,andmanyofourSundaySchoolchildrenweretheretohelpputtablecloths,
silverwareandotheritemsonthetables.
Sunday’sfestivitiesbeganwitha
combinedDivineLiturgy
celebratedbyhisGraceBishop
Longin,withresponsessungby
thejoinedchoirsofStevan
SijackiandourLiturgical
singers,culminatinginthe
traditionalbanquetand
programfeaturingchildren
fromourChurchSchool
program,St.SavaOrthodoxSchoolandSumadija.
Asalways,theeventwasmadepossibleand
trulyspecialbyallthosewhohelped–fromthe
setuponSaturdaytoSunday’sfestivities.Special
thanksgotoDaraSeverandherkitchenstaff
whoplanned,shoppedforandpreparedthe
wonderfulmeal;DianeMarkovinaforher
organizationofthebanquetandprogram;Steve
PetrovichandCedoKabicfortheirexcellent
workonthesoundsystem;theParochialSchool
PTOfor
decoratingthe
tables,andallthe
othergenerous
folkstoo
numerousto
mention.Wealso
mustthankthe
teachers,students
ofbothschools
anddirectorsand
dancersofSumadija.Onceagainwewereamazedathowquicklythehallwascleanedup,
thetablesandchairsputaway,bothkitchenscleaned-allwithinanhouroftheendofthe
program.Thespiritinwhichsomanyofyouhelpedwastrulysomethingwonderfulto
experience.
Wealsooweadebtofgratitudetoourdomacin,ZoranandValentinaVrankovic-whowere
amongthefirsttoarriveandthelasttoleave-makingsureallpreparationsandclean-up
werecomplete.Theywerealsokindandgenerousenoughtopurchasethechildren’sgift—
200iconsofSt.Sava.
Wehonorallofyouforyourvolunteerismandloveofourchurch.Weareablessed
congregationbecauseofourpeople–you,yourfamilyandyourreverenceandrespectfor
