PASTE FROM WORD MASH-‐UP Why Would You Use

PASTE FROM WORD MASH-‐UP How to safely paste from Word into Blackboard Why Would You Use This Feature? Microsoft Word is commonly used to create and format written copy for lessons and assignments. In order to retain the authors formatting Word embeds hidden code in all documents. This code cannot be read by Blackboard and often causes serious and unpredictable errors within Blackboard. Never copy and paste from a Microsoft Word document into a Blackboard window (including tests, discussions, blogs, journals, wikis or other Blackboard tool). If you must copy and paste from Microsoft Word use the Paste from Word Mash-‐up. The Paste from Word Mash-‐up tool removes Microsoft’s hidden code while maintaining the users copy and most formatting. How To Safely Copy and Paste from Microsoft Word: 1) From the Visual Text Box Editor (shown below) select the Mash-‐up icon and scroll to Past from Word For more information, see visit UTC Online or contact the Walker Teaching Resource Center 423•425•4188
