sign in
Log in to TotalGuide xD
Accessing TotalGuide xD’s
vast catalog of program
information is quick and easy.
The first time you tap the TotalGuide
xD icon to launch the app, you will be
asked to select your cable provider.
Depending on your provider, you will
either sign in using your cable account
username and password, or create a
TotalGuide xD User Account to access
the app. Once you’ve logged into your
account you can:
Save favorite channels, shows
and celebrities.
Connect to your settop boxes
to tune channels and schedule
recordings.

Option 1: Use your cable
account to log in
Select your cable provider, if
available.*
Enter your username and password.
Tap Log In.
Step 2: Enter your zip or postal
code then select your channel
line-up.
Step 3: Enter the requested information, including a valid email address,
and tap Create Account to complete
your registration and launch the app.
Option 2: Create an account
Step 1: After selecting your cable
provider, tap Create Account to
choose your channel line-up.
*If your cable provider is not listed, you will not be able to access the app.

a little more setup
Link TotalGuide xD to your cable set-top boxes
Linking the app to each of your cable settop boxes allows you to use your iPad to:

Schedule recordings and manage
your DVR.*

Change channels on your TVs.*
Adding a set-top box:

If you followed Option 1 on the
previous page and logged in using
your cable account, your set-top
boxes are automatically linked to
TotalGuide xD.
Tap Settings to see a list of your
devices. Tap to edit and rename if
desired.
Set-top box registration:

If you followed Option 2 on the
previous page and set up a User
Account, you will need to manually
link your set-top box to TotalGuide xD.
Set-top box devices can be added from the
Settings screen. You can also edit the name.
Tap Settings, then tap Add a New
Device and enter your zip code or
postal code to find your channel line-up.
Enter the Device Code and name
your device to link your DVR set-top
box to the app.
Where do I find the Device Code?
The Device Code, also called a Temporary Code,
can be found by selecting Remote Access Setup
from the Setup menu on i-Guide, or selecting
Remote Access from Settings on Passport
Guide.
*If available.
If you followed Option 2, register your set-top
box when prompted.

Explore the Home screen
The Home screen is your Video
Dashboard, which is divided into five
areas to help you find and discover
your favorite TV shows, movies and
celebrities quickly and easily.
Set-Top Box Device List:
Shows the device currently paired with the
app. Select to choose another device or
modify.
Favorite Networks:
Displays programs currently airing on your
favorite networks, with options to view
what’s on Now, Next or in Prime Time.
Tap
to add or delete
a favorite channel.
My Favorites:
Displays Movies, TV or Celebrities that
you’ve made a favorite by tapping
on an
Overview screen.
Hot Lists:
Rovi’s picks based on the category you
have selected: Music, Sports, Family,
Reality or Flick Picks. Tap
to select a
category.
For You:
Popular on TV and Movies.
My DVR:
Programs scheduled to record on your DVR.
See All:
Tap to expand/collapse your view.
Tap and go
Home: Displays the Home
screen, shown above.
Listings Grid: Your cable provider’s
complete channel line-up.
TV Shows: Select to see what’s on
now or in prime time.
Settings: Manage your user account,
add set-top box devices, review your
favorites and more.
Movies: Select to see what movies

On-screen options to personalize your view.
It’s easy to customize your
Video Dashboard based on
your preferences.
Customize:
Tap to customize your
Favorite Networks, My
Favorites, and Hot List.
Options:
Tap one of the options to
change the display in Favorite
Networks or My Favorites
categories.
Navigation:
In the expanded area, swipe left
to review additional choices,
if available. When you find a
program that interests you,
tap the show graphic for more
information. Or, tap Tune to tune
your TV or Record to set your
DVR to record the program.*

Favorites - Add/Remove
Tap to add this channel, show, or
celebrity to your Favorites list. Blue
indicates the item is a favorite.
Listings Grid Calendar
Tap to select the day and time to view.

Listings Grid Genre Filter
Tap to select the genres you would like
highlighted (Kids, Lifestyle, Movies, Music,
News or Sports).

Customize to make finding programs a snap
Tap the Listings Grid icon to display
your channel line-up and what’s on
now. Simply swipe up/down and
right/left to explore the grid. Tap a
show for Program Overview.
Day and Time Options:
Tap the Calendar to desired date and
time. The grid adjusts automatically.
Tap View On Now to reset the grid to
current time.
Customize:
Use these filters and options to change
the grid’s listings:
Tap
to display only favorite
channels.
Tap
to display only HD channels.
Tap Options to display the Listings
Grid alphabetically or numerically.
Tap
to select a genre to highlight.
Add a Favorite:
Tap a channel to make it a Favorite.
(The heart icon will turn blue.) Tap again
to remove from Favorites.
Record Icon:
A red dot indicates the show is
scheduled to record on your DVR.

you type, TotalGuide xD
offers suggestions based
on popularity to guide your
search, so it’s easy to find

Have fun exploring your entertainment options
TotalGuide xD provides intuitive
discovery of relevant entertainment
options and enables you to veer off in
several directions, so you can explore
and discover new shows or read about
your favorite celebrities.
Explore the Cast:
From Program Overview tap Cast to
view cast list and photos. Tap one to view
Celebrity Overview including Credits
and Airings. Tap Credits to explore more
programs.
Find Similar shows:
From the Program Overview, tap
the Similar tab to see a list of similar
recommendations. Tap on a program to
access Program Overview for that show.
Tap on Cast, and select an actor to view
their overview.
Step 1: Tap a show graphic or title for
Program Overview. Tap Cast to view cast
photos — tap one for bio and credits.

how-to: record a show
Use TotalGuide xD to program your DVR
A great show is on tonight
but you have to work late.
No problem. You can use
TotalGuide xD to record it
on your home digital video
recorder (DVR).
Use the Home screen,
Search, Listings Grid or
any other navigation tool to
find an upcoming show. Tap
the show, then tap Record
to DVR and choose from
the available recording
options, and tap Record.
The show will be added to
your DVR recording schedule
and appear in the My DVR
section of the Home screen.
To cancel a recording:

Find the show you want to record.
Tap Record or tap the show for
Program Overview.
Tap Record to DVR.
Select a one-time or series recording.*
Select from the available
options and tap Record to schedule.*
On the Home screen,
expand the My DVR area.
Click Modify under the
show you no longer wish to
record.
Tap Cancel this Scheduled
Recording.
Confirm your decision by
tapping Yes.
Note: This feature may not
be supported by all cable

Quickly manage your TotalGuide xD settings with a few taps
My Profile:
Tap a category to view or
modify your designated
Favorites.
Your Account:
Select to create or modify
your profile, if applicable.
My Devices:
Tap Edit to modify current
device. Select Add a new
device to connect another
settop box to the app.
Log Out:
Tap to log out of TotalGuide
xD. You will be prompted
to enter your username and
password the next time you
launch the app.
Deleting Favorites using the Settings screen
Tap Channels, Programs or Celebrities. Tap an item on the list to
delete from that favorites list.
Tip: Add a new device. If you created a User Account, secure a Device
Code from each set-top box and enter it when prompted. If you’ve
logged into TotalGuide xD using your cable account credentials, all your
set-top boxes are automatically connected to the app. You can rename
your devices anytime.
