chalk, chalkboard, hole punch
For the students: copies of Black Line Master (BLM) Story Frames,
cardstock, yarn
Activity
A. Pre-Activity Discussion
1. Read Because of a Sneeze.
2. Go through the story a second time and review all of the events
that happened because of the sneeze.
B. Storytelling
1. Start a new story of your own as a group.
2. Give the students a starting sentence referring to something that
is happening today (e.g., “Because it was raining this morning...”).
3. Take several suggestions on how to finish the sentence. Write
the selected sentence on the board, and draw a picture illustrating
it (e.g., “Because it was raining this morning, I had to wear
my boots.”).
4. Start the next sentence with “because” and the end of the first
sentence (e.g., “Because I had to wear my boots...”).
5. Finish the story after five or six steps and see if the students
can remember everything that happened. Direct students to use
the pictures on the board to remember.

Teacher Directions
Enlarge the BLM Story Frames so that students may paste pictures or create their own drawings
within the story frames to illustrate their stories for the story market. Make copies of the
enlarged frames, and cut the BLM Story Frames in half so each page has four story frames.
Distribute a page of four story frames to each student.
