Offering a fresh take on the popular Louis Philippe style, a design staple of the past quarter century, the Beaufort
Collection exhibits both Continental and American influences notably the low country region of Louisiana.
Owing much to the Louis Philippe style of the European continent in the use of the wide ogee “doucine”
molding under the tops of cases and French bracket feet, it nonetheless reflects its American origins in the heavily
layered, mitred face framing and lipped, rather than fitted drawers adorned with oval Hepplewhite hardware.
19th century Louisiana was still very much under the cultural sway of France and reflected the taste of the court
of Louis Philippe, the so-called “Citizen King,” which saw the rise of the middle class and industrialization.
Updated for 21st century lifestyles and scaled for contemporary homes, Beaufort is crafted in solid cherry and
offers a host of subtle design details, such as the use of the delicate bead molding used in the framing around the
cases and in mirrors and beds. With a wide variety of pieces from which to choose, any bedroom can be fit for a
king – or queen.
