Blanket Square
BLANKET SQUARE.
MEASUREMENTS:
Each Square: 3in/7½cm depth x
3in/7½cm width or
6in/15cm depth x 6in/15cm width.
MATERIALS:
Approx 9 yards D.K. Yarn for each
3in/7½cm square.
Approx 36 yards D.K. Yarn for each
6in/15cm square.
1 pair of 4mm (UK8-USA6) Knitting
Needles.
1 Tapestry Needle.
TENSION:
20sts and 40 rows to 10cm, 4in over
garter stitch.
ABBREVIATIONS:
k knit
mm millimetres
cm centimetres
in inch(es)
st(s) stitch(es)
kf&b knit into the front and back of the
same stitch.
k2tog knit 2 stitches together.
(Knit Diagonally)
Using 4mm Knitting Needles.
Cast on 1 stitch.
1st Row: kf&b. [2sts]
2nd Row: K1, kf&b. [3sts]
3rd Row: K1, kf&b, k1. [4sts]
4th Row: K1, kf&b, k2. [5sts]
5th Row: K1, kf&b, K3. [6sts]
6th Row: *K1, kf&b, knit to the end of
the row.*
3in/7½cm Squares only: Repeat the
6th Row from * to * until 20 sts are on
the needle.
6in/15cm Squares only: Repeat the
6th Row from * to * until 40 sts are on
the needle.
Begin to decrease.
Next Row: K1, k2tog, knit to the end
of the row.
Repeat this row until 2 sts remain on
the needle.
Next Row: K2tog.
Bind off the remaining stitch.
Knit the required number of squares in
colours of your choice for your blanket.
TO MAKE UP.
Using a Tapestry Needle. Sew
squares together. Fasten off all loose
ends.
