Title: Inheriting a Trade: A Study of Inter-Generational Prostitution within a
Community in Forbesganj, Bihar
Brief Synopsis: My Doctoral Thesis was focused on a De-notified Nomadic Tribe
named ‘Nats’ which is currently into inter-generational sex work in Bihar. The
research deals with the Criminal Tribes Act XXVII of 1871 and the socio-political
history of the ‘Nat’ tribe. It also engages with the political economy and the
‘lived realities’ of the present day Nats in Bihar who are located on the periphery
of Uttari Rampur village in Forbesganj, (Araria), Bihar.
