ABOUT RAVEN SERVELLON:
A self-taught artist based in Los Angeles, Raven Servellon creates "optrickal delusions" using marker and ink
on paper, layering intricate & playful imagery which interweave a multitude of references, both political and
personal.
Raven Servellon considers her labor intensive drawings as the next generation of Op Art. They certainly are
optical orgies of color, form, and content. Her work is an escapist psychedelic trip into a feminine fantasy
world of independent superstar girls, and their rock star pets.
LA TIMES Review & Interview with Raven Servellon:
(Deborah Vankin, August 31, 2016)
“Raven Servellon wants to pummel you with color and detail. The L.A. artist’s psychedelic, fem-pop ink
drawings are dense with swirly, girlie optical illusions – “optrickal delusions,” she calls them. Stare into a
garden of flaming roses long enough and tall, willowy cats, standing upright as if on stilts, emerge – and
they’re wearing butterfly masks. A sea of multi-colored, roiling balls opens up to reveal dancing female
figures, their arms of fire swaying in the air.”
