Entities will host a local book drive through ‘Better World Books’, which supports global literacy and local
libraries. Better World Books will provide all the materials entities need or your book drive from collection
bins to posters; they will even cover the shipping costs to send the books in! Every single book sent to
Better World Books will be resold, re-purposed or recycled. Absolutely NO BOOK WILL BE SENT TO A
LANDFILL.
This program can also be used as a fundraiser. Better World Books will give your entity $1 for every
acceptable book you send in. Additionally, they will give 5% of the net profits generated from the book
donations profits to fund the SLG Education Foundation.

Program Goals
 Each entity collect a minimum of 6 Bins of Books
 Each entity submit at least 2 photos of their event to their Regional Director
 Each entity document their book drive experience through Instagram using
#SLGEducateToEmpower, @SigmaLambdaGamma

o The goal of a book drive is to gather college-level textbooks in salable
condition that are less than 10 years old
 Better World Book Drive Sign Up Page
 Make sure to indicate you are with Sigma Lambda Gamma under the
“Company” section.
 Put “NONE” under “Whom would you like to benefit?” By doing this you are
ensuring the SLG Education Foundation will receive a percentage of the book
profits.

Set Book Drive Details
 Using the timeline in the Book Drive Calendar, set the appropriate dates, times
and locations for your Book Drive activities.
 Set a volunteer schedule to collect books and determine a location to store the
books for shipping.

the Drive to 25 Program Submission Form.
