1407 14TH AVENUE N.W. CALGARY, ALBERTA CANADA, T2N 4R3 T: (403) 284-7640 F: (403) 284-7603 [email protected] WWW.ACAD.CA Students: Keep your supplies in their original packaging and keep all receipts until your instructor confirms the supplies will be used (in case any need to be returned). Occasionally Extended Studies must change an instructor from who was advertised. Because that may cause a change to the course supply list, we recommend that you wait to purchase supplies for your first night until about one week prior to class start and that you purchase your remaining supplies after your first class (unless your course is a weekend workshop). SUPPLY LIST: Course: 35050 – Colour Theory for Painters Instructor: Alicja Swiatlon Date: Wednesdays, Feb. 11 – April 1, 2015 Time: 6:30 – 9:30 pm Please note you may use acrylic or oil paints in this course. Please choose just one type of paint and work in that paint for the entire course. Below you will find the supply list for acrylic paint which is then followed by the supply list for oil paint. Art materials are not cheap but you do need them if you want to make art. Expect to spend about $250 if you are starting from scratch. Some things last long like soft pastels, palette, brushes ( if you take good care of them), paints and mediums you might need to replace more often. Most art stores offer a 10% student discount but prices can be varied from brand to brand. If you have time I recommend inquiring at art stores to find out about sales or price range. Prices of paints depend on the pigment of which the paint is composed, to complicate matters the same colour may be named differently from brand to brand. Less expensive student brands/colour may have for example less body which means it will require several coats to cover the paper. If need an assistance before you purchase art materials please feel free to email me at [email protected]. If you already have paints, brushes, mediums please bring them to the first class especially if these are materials you like to use. If your choice is determined by budget, I will respect that and assist you to make the most economical choice.
