SCHOLARSHIPS NEWSLETTER January

The Assn. of Fire Districts of NYS is offering the Ned Carter Scholarship. To be eligible, students must be
related to a firefighter, be a firefighter, or be an Explorer. Awards will be made to students planning to
pursue a career of service to the community (i.e. teaching, human services, social work, fire service,
etc.). Applications are available in the Counseling Office or online at www.firedistnys.com.
The New York Rural Water Association is offering the Founder's Scholarship. It is available to any
student who resides on a NYRWA system (ie. Village/Town water system). Applications will be screened
based upon student's leadership in community activities, school activities, and GPA. Priority is given, but
not necessarily limited to students who will enter water-related studies. Applications are available in
the Counseling Office and are due by February 10. See your counselor if you have questions.
The Albion Elks Lodge is honored to be able to offer the following scholarships. The ENF Legacy Award is
worth $4000. This award applies to individuals that are the child or grandchild of an Elks Member. The
application is to be completed online at http://www.elks.org/legacyscholarship/ and must be submitted
by February 3rd. The Emergency Education Grant provides financial assistance to children of deceased
or disabled Elk members who wish to obtain further education. For more information go to

Harvest Time Partners, in collaboration with The Character Council of Western New York, is pleased to
award $1000 cash scholarships to high-school seniors who exemplify character in their daily lives and
who will be attending a college or trade school post-graduation. The scholarships will be awarded to
high school seniors enrolling full-time in a college or trade school the Fall following graduation.
Applications are available in the Counseling Office and must be POSTMARKED BY FEBRUARY 1ST TO BE
CONSIDERED.
Empire State Potato Growers Inc. will be offering their annual scholarship for seniors planning to pursue
a college degree in the agricultural industry. Applications are available in the Counseling Office and must
be postmarked by January 15, 2017.
Monroe Tractor is offering a scholarship to a student pursuing a career in an agricultural related field. The
scholarship is for $1000 and is renewable for up to four years. Interested students must submit an essay
describing their background, future goals, and why they have chosen agriculture. Applications must be
received by February 15. For more information, stop by the Counseling Office.
