VENUE
The conference will be hosted in the state of the art facilities within the new library of Alexandria (Bibliotheca
Alexandrina).
The conference is set to take place in Alexandria,
Egypt from 12-15 of May 2011.
Alexandria is the second-largest city in Egypt. Known
as the pearl of the Mediterranean, the city extends
about 32 km (20 mi) along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea in north-western Egypt. Alexander the Great
founded the city on the site of a small fishing village
around 331 B.C. It remained Egypt’s capital for almost
a millennium.
Alexandria was a vibrant intellectual center that beaconed art and culture through the basin of the Mediterranean. It is where scholars are thought to have
produced the Septuagint, the Greek translation of the
Old Testament, and edited Homer’s works. It is also,
where the Old Testament was canonized around 300
A.D. Being the center of the Hellenistic world, the city
produced a number of great mathematicians, astronomers and scientists such as Euclid, Ctesibius, Pappus
and Diophantus.
Alexandria is a flourishing modern city with a population of around 6 millions. It houses several universities,
museums, and cultural centers. It is also home to the
Bibliotheca Alexandrina (the new Library). Alexandria
is accessible by air, sea, and land. Two airports serve
the city, Borg-El-Arab Airport and Cairo International
Airport. A major highway, desert highway 220 km long,
links the city to Cairo, with transportation options that
suit all budgets. Transportation within the city is abundant and reasonably priced.
The library boasts a modern complex that entails six
specialized libraries, four museums, a planetarium,
more than fifteen permanent art galleries, and a conference center capable of accommodating thousands of
delegates. The facilities are centrally located within the
city in the heart of the academic quarter. The library is
easily accessed from many points within the city.
The city’s climate is typical Mediterranean with mild,
variably rainy winters and hot, dry summers which, at
times, can be very humid. Temperatures in May are
in the comfortable range of 20-22 C. The city offers a
selection of hotels, from the modern to the historic,
which can accommodate a wide spectrum of styles and
budgets. The city offers many safe entertainment and
nightlife venues.

MOTIVATION and SCOPE
EMCBB-2011 will provide a forum where researchers,
academicians, and industrial personnel can exchange ideas
and discuss methodologies to tackle some of the complex
problems currently facing regenerative medicine.
This edition of the conference will focus on aging. The
theme of the conference is, therefore, the role of transdisciplinary research in addressing aging in human tissue.
