Canned Food Drive
TES will be collecting non-perishable items for those less fortunate this holiday season.
If you would like to contribute, please send all items to the TES Office by Friday,
December 19th. Some of the items that we will be collecting are canned foods, nonperishable food items (rice, beans) and toiletries (toilet paper, soap, shampoo, tooth paste,
deodorant, etc.). Thanks in advance for your help. Together we make a great team.

Inclement Weather
It is the season again for possible inclement weather that can affect school opening,
delays, and early dismissals. If bad weather is in our area or strongly forecasted, we
encourage you to follow the “Emergency Closing & Delayed Openings” procedures (located
in the Student Handbook in your child’s agenda). If you have any questions about school
being open during inclement weather, listen to the local TV & radio stations. You can also
call the ACPS “Hotline” at 946-9386, ext. 7, or visit the Amherst County Public Schools
website at www.amherst.k12.va.us.
Kris Kringle Shop
It’s that time of year again…Our PTO is hosting its annual Kris Kringle Shop. Students will
have the opportunity to purchase gifts for family and friends every morning, during the
week of December 1st. All items can be purchased for $2.00 and come gift wrapped. All
money raised will go towards purchasing items for our “TES Angels”. Thanks for your
support.
The Students at Temperance Elementary School have been using the Accelerated Math
program to review and reinforce math skills previously taught. The students earn 1 point

Winner of the DARE Essay Contest
Deputy Belinda Gaines has visited Mrs. Carter and her 4th grade class since September teaching D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse
Resistance Education). The highly acclaimed program gives kids the skills they need to avoid involvement in drugs, gangs, and
violence. Deputy Gaines asked that each student write an essay telling about their experiences with the DARE program. This
year Clara Carter was selected as the DARE essay winner! Congratulations Clara! We are very proud of you and your
accomplishment.
