QUARTER 1
Developing a strong sight vocabulary of high frequency words is critical to reading success. These are the words that students should be able to read
in books they have never seen before and out of context such as on lists or flashcards. This list provides guidance for whole group instruction. The
words listed below were taught in first grade. In addition, take some time to review and reinforce category words: colors, days of the week, shapes
and family members.
