Social prescribing is a way of enabling care services to refer people with social, emotional and/or practical needs to sources of support within the community. This can be local non-clinical services, charity support or a range of services, often provided by the voluntary and community sector. The awareness of social prescribing and the benefits that it can bring are becoming more evident. Being a Community Interest Company we fully support the idea that a community can help reduce isolation and improve people’s mental wellbeing. An increasing problem in our society is social exclusion and we see this frequently. Social prescribing can help to reduce this which then has positive reflections on wellbeing, including loneliness and improved mental health. We hope to soon be able to provide our customers with the option to pay for their own assessment without having to wait for a local authority appointment. The aim of our Occupational Therapist will be to provide general and fall specific assessments for our customers, helping them to stay safe in their own environment.
