Thank you for your continued support to the Pontiac Public Library. This year we have an opportunity to bring
more programs, events, and activities that are sure to capture your interest and attendance. We are highlighting Black
History with many exciting and creative events. Women in History Month will showcase some of our many achievements from women. There are so many new and ongoing events at our library to help our community. Our annual
open house will serve as the prelude to our annual gala. We will be having our 3rd annual Open House to share and
celebrate our library. We are hosting our annual gala, celebrating 93 years of library services to the Pontiac community in February. It is one of many ways to acknowledge the community and to see the team of staff members and board
of trustee’s celebrating our library.
The library has continued to garner support from partnerships and sponsorships to better serve our community. It
is important that you know your volunteer services are needed and welcomed at the library. As you view your quarterly newsletter, you will find that many of our programs may be able to use your volunteer services. Please feel free to
complete an application and join our team. We have a Friend’s of the Library organization that supports our library.
Take an opportunity to meet the group and consider joining. Everyone is welcome to join us. As each day goes by we
are privileged to see the growth in patrons. Because of the time and commitment to improving the climate and culture
of our library, we see increased attendance. Our programs, staff, and events are increasing as our children, youth, and
adults services are organized to accommodate everyone.
Our patrons are very important to us. We are honored to have Children’s Hospital of Michigan partner with us
for the Safe Sleep workshop to earn a FREE Pack’N Play for your infant. In our Teen Zone we have a Teen Advisory
Board (TAB). We meet the 2nd Saturday of each month at 1:00 p.m. We plan events and activities for the year. Teens
are cordially invited to attend the 3rd annual Teen Snowflake Ball this year. You are sure to have a blast. Parents help
chaperone the event that showcases great fun, food, music, and fashion. Karaoke and adult coloring seems to bring
out the best in many of us for relaxing and reenergizing. We are always open for new ideas to experience at the library.
Perhaps a book club, computer class, Free Little Library Steward or yoga are your interest. Please let us know so we
can meet and plan with you in mine. It is our goal to make sure you have level 6 service and programming. Visit our
website to see new book releases and other important information.
We extend our best wishes for a great year at the library and elsewhere. Feel free to reach out to us. We appreciate
the opportunity to serve you. Thank you for being a valued patron.
Always grateful,
Rosie L. Lance Richardson
