D. Drop Off Freshman students will enter at the front of the school by the media center entrance. The Administrative Team, Cheerleaders, Marching Band and Color Guard members will be outdoors to welcome the students and their parents. The students will report directly to the check-in tables. Students will then be given a folder that will contain all necessary information (schedule, locker #, etc.) as well as a complimentary gift. The students and their parents will go directly to the auditorium where the students will be directed to sit in the sections that correspond to their designated social & emotional learning area. Their parents will be asked to sit on the opposite side of the auditorium. 10:10 am Welcome Dr. Cartier- Introduction and welcome Mr. Reginio- Introduction, welcome, introduction of Academy faculty 10:30 am Parent/Guardian Presentation Students will be dismissed by social & emotional learning area to go to the Upper Gym. Parents/guardians will remain in the auditorium. Mr. Reginio will briefly present the mission, purpose, and benefits of the Freshman Academy. Parents not wishing to go on a campus tour may feel free to leave after the presentation. 11:30 am Optional Parent/Guardian Building Tour Civic Leaders will lead parent/guardian tours around the North Campus. 10:35 am Upper Gym The band, color guard, and cheerleaders will perform their routines for the students in the Upper Gym. Students will be dismissed from the gym by house prior to the rotations. 10:45 am Rotations 20-minute rotations to four different locations/activities PLEASE FIND THE ROTATION SCHEDULE ON THE BACK OF THIS PAGE (or click the FRESHMAN ORIENTATION ROTATION SCHEDULE link on the HS North website.) 12:05 pm Civic Leader Activities Students will report to assigned classrooms to meet with Civic Leaders for Transition activities (scavenger hunt, icebreaker activities, questionnaires, lockers, building tour, etc.) 1:15 pm BBQ IN THE STADIUM* Concluding remarks will be made by Dr. Cartier, Principal and Mr. Reginio, Assistant Principal. Food (hot dogs, hamburgers, etc.) and beverages will be served. Students will have the ability to participate in various informal activities while outside (frisbee, soccer, kan jam, corn hole) PARENTS/GUARDIANS ARE INVITED TO COME JOIN THE CLASS OF 2019, ADMINISTRATION, AND FACULTY FOR LUNCH. Parents/Guardians and the students will leave directly from the stadium. A large Class of 2019 banner will be displayed in the stadium. Students are encouraged to write a brief note to their future selves. The banner will be stored away and it will be brought out at their Senior BBQ four years from now. 2:15 pm Chromebook Deployment Students will be escorted back to the Media Center where they will be given their Chromebooks. *Weather Permitting ** Inclement weather will result in lunch being served in the building.
