He was the only boy in a family of four children, with three older sisters. His father is of Irish decent, while his mother is Norwegian, Polish, and Swedish. As a child, Tom learned to throw a football from camp counselor and future NFL/AFL quarterback Tom Graziani. Brady went to Junipero Serra High School in San Mateo and graduated in 1995. In High School, Tom played football, basketball, and baseball. Tom was actually known more as a baseball player in high school and was drafted in the 18th round of the 1995 MLB Draft by the Montreal Expos. Brady was determined to play football though, and instead chose to attend the University of Michigan to play football as quarterback. After graduation, Tom Brady was selected as the 199th overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft to the New England Patriots.
