Cold / Hot aisle containement The hot / cold containment solution prevents the mixing of hot air flow rejected by the servers and the cold air from the air conditioning system used to cool the servers. This system optimises cooling and causes the temperature between the top and bottom racks to be almost identical which, in turn, enables the servers to be used at all rack levels (eliminating 75% of breakdowns caused in the top third of the rack, also known as hot spots). This kind of solution allows dissipation of over 10 kW per rack, compared to 5 kW per rack when installed in conventional air-conditioned rooms. This system reduce the air conditioning system consumption between 15 or 20 % Specifications How is it done ? Racks are positioned in two rows facing each other with a corridor in the middle. The roof of the corridor is closed off using polycarbonate and a sliding or swivelling door system is used on the sides. The air conditioning is then channeled under the false floor of the room and goes up through the perforated floor tiles which are positioned between the two racks. The air conditioning is thus 100 % channeled to the servers, preventing a flow of hot air being rejected at the back of the servers.
