Viita-ahon mattokutomon perustivat Arto ja Aila Viita-aho vuonna 1973
Lappajärven rannalle, Karvalan kylään. Kutomossa tehtiin mm. räsymattoja
jo heti alusta lähtien, myöhemmin mukaan tulivat myös nukka- ja villamatot, puuvilla, sisal ja pellava. VM Carpet on panostanut hyvään suunnitteluun alusta lähtien, Suomen eturivin suunnittelijoiden kanssa yhteistyötä
kutomo on tehnyt jo 20 vuotta.
Tänä päivänä Viita-ahon perheen viidestä lapsesta kolme on mukana toiminnassa. Perustaja Arto Viita-aholle mattokutomo oli paikka jossa toteuttaa
innovaatioita ja uusia ideoita. Elämän perusarvot ovat vakaasti lomittuneet
tapaan toimia ja tehdä.
Inhimillisyys ja kekseliäisyys sekä rehellinen ja ystävällinen pohjalainen
asenne ovat olleet tärkeä osa kutomon toimintaa alusta asti. Viita-ahon
mattokutomon työntekijät ovat osa perhettä, vanhimmat työntekijät ovat
olleet mukana yli 30 vuotta.
The Viita-aho rug factory was founded by Arto and Aila Viita-aho in 1973
by the shore of Lake Lappajärvi, in the village of Karvala. From the very
beginning, the rug factory produced rag rugs, with shaggy and woollen
rugs, cotton, sisal and linen coming along later. VM-Carpet has invested
in good design from the beginning. We have partnered with the leading
designers in Finland for more than 20 years.
Today, three of the five children in the Viita-aho family participate in
the operations. For the founder, Arto Viita-aho, the rug factory was a
place for innovation and new ideas. The basic values of life are solidly
intertwined with the way of working and doing things. Humane values,
innovation, honesty and the friendly Ostrobothnian attitude have been
an important part of the factory’s activities from the first steps. The employees of the Viita-aho rug factory are part of the family. The
senior employees have been with us for more than 30 years.

Valitse vakiomuoto tai suunnittele oma
VM Carpetin mattojen leikkauslinja antaa sisustussuunnittelulle aivan uusia ulottuvuuksia. Muotoa suunniteltaessa
on mahdollista ottaa huomioon huoneen muoto, huonekalujen sijainti tai vaikkapa oma harrastus tai muu mielenkiinnon kohde. Lasten mieleen ovat varmasti erilaiset eläin- ja sarjakuvahahmot. Olohuoneessa ja makuuhuoneessa maton muodon voi valita huoneen tyylin tai tunnelman mukaan.
Muotoon leikattujen mattojen materiaaliksi soveltuvat parhaiten nukkamatot, kuten Romance, Elysee, Hattara,
Tessa ja Code. Myös kantattavista matoista voidaan leikata erikoismuotoja, mutta kanttaus asettaa omat rajoituksensa mm. kulmien suuruudelle.
Voit valita mattosi joko valmiista vakiomuodoistamme tai luoda aivan omasi. Vain mielikuvitus on rajana.

The VM Carpet’s cut opens up completely new possibilities for interior design. The shape of the rug does not
have to be a conventional rectangle or circle any longer - now almost any shape is feasible.
The rug’s shape can reflect the form of the room, the placement of furniture or, for instance, your own hobby or
other interest. Children will certainly take to different animal and cartoon characters. It is also possible to make
the shape of the rug in the living room or the bedroom reflect the room’s style or atmosphere.
The material best suited for the shapeable rugs are thick shaggy rugs, such as Romance, Elysee, Hattara, Tessa
and Code. It is also possible to cut special shapes from bordered rugs though the border can limit the size of the
angle, for instance.
You can choose one of our standard shapes or create your own shape. Your imagination is the only limit.

Matoista
VM Carpetin matot valmistetaan maailman parhaista materiaaleista. Ne kestävät aikaa ja kulutusta hyvin. Mattoja
tehdään luonnonkuiduista, kuten sisalista, villasta, puuvillasta ja paperinarusta. Paperinarusta mattoja on kudottu
VM Carpetilla jo yli 20 vuotta ja se myös kerrataan ja värjätään VM Carpetin tehtailla Lappajärvellä. Materiaaleja
voidaan myös yhdistellä, jolloin saadaan kahden materiaalin parhaat ominaisuudet samaan mattoon. Keinokuitumatot
tehdään polypropeenista ja polyamidista, niiden etu on pölyttömyys ja ne kestävät kovempaakin kulutusta.
Lisäksi käytetään yhdistelmäkuituja kuten bambun ja polyamidien yhdistelmiä ja Smart Strand-kuitua, joissa yhdistetään luonnosta saatavia materiaaleja keinokuituihin. Nämä kuidut ovat ympäristöystävällisempiä verrattuna
perinteisiin keinokuituihin ja lisäksi niissä on usein paljon muitakin hyviä ominaisuuksia, kuten miellyttävä tuntu.
Tekniikat
Mattoja valmistetaan niin itse kutomalla ja tuftaamalla kuin puolivalmisteesta jatkotyöstetystä mattorullasta leikkaamalla ja viimeistelemällä neljässä tuotantohallissamme Lappajärvellä. Lisäksi meillä on ammattitaitoisten alihankkijoiden verkosto, jossa syntyy hienoja ja perinteisiä kudottuja mattoja.
Pohjaus
Pohjatuissa matoissa on EVA- tai EVAPOLYTEX -pohjaus, joka pitää maton ryhdikkäänä ja estää maton liukumisen jalan
alla. Pohjaus on hajuton eikä jätä jälkiä lattiaan. Lattialämmityskään ei sitä haittaa. Pohjaus ei myöskään pölyä eikä
murene.
EVA-pohjaus tehdään kuumentamalla sirotejauho maton alapintaan kiinni. EVA on lyhenne sanoista etyleenivinyyli-asetaatti. Samaa materiaalia käytetään mm. elintarviketeollisuuden pakkauksissa. Tämä pohjausmenetelmä on
valittu yhteistyössä VTT:n kanssa. EVAPOLYTEX-pohjauksessa on kiinnitetty lisäksi huopa maton pohjaan ja näin
matosta on saatu hieman joustavampi, pehmeämpi ja tiiviimpi.

Kun matto tulee uuteen kotiinsa, lue hoito-ohjeet ja säilytä ne. Mattokohtaiset hoito-ohjeet löydät myös maton omilta sivuilta
Suurin osa matoista on vesipestäviä.
Lika lähtee parhaiten pois, kun poistat sen saman tien.
Ethän taita pohjattua mattoa. Kun kierrät sen rullalle, rullaa pohjaus sisäänpäin.
Jos sisal-maton päällä on kävelty kosteilla kengillä ja matto on kutistunut keskeltä, saattaa matto aaltoilla tai maton kulmat nousta ylös. Pese tällöin koko matto. Pesussa matto kutistuu kauttaaltaan, jolloin matto tasoittuu ja kulmat todennäköisesti laskeutuvat. Muotoile matto kosteana ja rullaa se joksikin aikaa pohjaus rullan sisäpuolelle.
Harjaa nukkamatot yhdensuuntaisin vedoin.
VM Carpetin nukkamatot on testattu robotti-imurilla ja testitulos oli erinomainen.

Lumipesu on myös hyvä tapa puhdistaa ja raikastaa matto. Jäähdytä matto ensin, heitä se lumihankeen ja hankaa pintaan puhdasta lunta. Toista muutaman kerran ja vie matto lopuksi kuivumaan ilmavaan paikkaan. Matto loikoilee mielellään vaakatasossa.
Vastuullisuus
VM Carpet pyrkii toimimaan ympäristöä vähän rasittavasti, valmistuksessa syntyvät jätepalat pyritään hyödyntämään
omassa toiminnassa ja loput käytetään energiajätteenä Vaasan Mustasaaressa. Lähes kaikilla matoilla on avainlippu-merkki. Suomen Asiakastieto Oy on myöntänyt VM Carpetille Suomen Vahvimmat -sertifikaatin. Luokitus on
näkyvä todiste yrityksen luottokelpoisuudesta, luotettavuudesta ja erinomaisesta maksukyvystä. Tuotteet valmistetaan huolellisesti parhaista materiaaleista, syksyllä 2015 tehdyn mittauksemme mukaan asiakastyytyväisyys oli 8,9
ja imagomielikuva 9,0 asteikolla 4-10.
Mittatilaus
VM Carpetilta on mahdollista tilata mattoja myös omien mittojen mukaan, pohjattuna, leikattuna ja pakattuna.
Mattoja leikataan 4 metriä leveästä rullasta joka on 30-60 metriä pitkä. Näiden mittojen puitteissa mattoja voidaan
leikata lähes minkä muotoiseksi vain. Voit valita muodon valmiista malleista tai suunnitella mallisi itse.

Rugs
VM Carpet’s rugs are made of the best materials in the world. They withstand time and use very well.
Rugs are made of natural fibres, such as sisal, wool, cotton and paper yarn, all of which have been used at
VM-Carpet for more than 20 years. The paper yarn is also folded and dyed at VM Carpet’s factory in Lappajärvi.
Materials can also be combined to get the best properties of two materials in one rug. Synthetic rugs are made of
polypropylene and polyamide. Their advantage is lack of dust and tolerance of heavy use.
In addition, we use combination fibres, such as bamboo and polyamide compounds, as well as Smart Strand fibres,
which combine natural materials with synthetic fibres. These fibres are more environmentally friendly compared to
traditional artificial fibre, and they often have plenty of other good features, such as pleasant feel.
Technology
We make rugs both by weaving and tufting them ourselves and by using a semi-finished product, cutting a refined
carpet roll and finishing it, in our four production halls in Lappajärvi. In addition, we have a network of professional
subcontractors who create marvellous and traditional woven rugs.
Backing
Rugs with a backing come with EVA or EVAPOLYTEX backing, which keeps the shape of the rug and prevents it from
sliding under the foot. The backing is odourless and does not stain the floor. It is ok also with floor heating. The
backing does not generate dust or crumble.
EVA backing is done by melting the compound powder onto the bottom surface of the rug. EVA is short for ethylene, vinyl and acetate. The same material is also used in food industry packaging, for example. This backing method
has been selected in collaboration with VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. When using EVAPOLYTEX
backing, felt cloth is attached to the rug bottom, making the rug slightly more flexible, softer and denser.
Care
•
When your rug arrives at its new home, read the care instructions and keep them for future reference. You can also find rug-specific instructions on the rug’s page on our website.

The majority of the rugs can be washed with water.
•
The stains come off most easily if you treat and remove them right away.
•
Do not fold up a rug with a backing. When you roll up a rug for cleaning or storing, roll it with the backing in.
•
Moisture from shoes, for example, can make sisal rugs shrink in the centre, resulting in protrusions on the carpet or curled-up corners. In this case, wash the entire rug. The entire rug will shrink in the wash, flattening the corners and the rug again. Shape when wet and roll up for a while with the backing inward.

Brush your shaggy rugs in parallel strokes.
•
All shaggy rugs from VM-Carpet have been tested with a robotic vacuum cleaner with excellent results.

Snow cleaning is another handy way to clean and freshen up your rugs. Cool down the rug, then lay it out in the snow, shovel clean snow on top and rub the snow against the rug. Repeat the treatment a couple of times and then let it dry. Let the rug dry out in a horizontal position.
Responsibility
VM Carpet aims at minimum environmental impact. We strive to use crop pieces in our operations and use the rest
for energy in Mustasaari, Vaasa. Almost all of our rugs have the Finnish Key Flag Symbol, which demonstrates that
the product has been manufactured in Finland. The credit rating company Suomen Asiakastieto has awarded VM
Carpet the Strongest in Finland certificate. The certification is a visible proof of the company’s creditworthiness,
reliability and excellent solvency. The products are carefully made from the best materials. According to our survey
(autumn 2015) customer satisfaction was 8.9 and the image perception 9.0 on a scale of 4–10.

VM Carpet can provide rugs according to your measurements, with backing, cutting and packing.
Rugs are cut from a roll 4 meters wide and 30–60 meters long, and within this size we can cut the rugs to almost
any shape. You can choose the shape from our collections or design the model yourself.
