The Advanced Cardiac Life Support for Radiologists course is provided by the Université de Montréal (UdeM) Faculty of Medicine in partnership with CAE Healthcare. The objective is to improve the practical skills of healthcare professionals and medical students when dealing with victims of cardiac or cardiopulmonary arrest. The course will take place at the UdeM Faculty of Medicine Medical Simulation Centre on eight specialized mannequins and will be given by instructors that have been accredited by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Quebec (HSFQ). A participant/instructor ratio of eight to one ensures a customized practice that can be adapted to the requirements of your team of professionals. It was developed by radiologists, for radiologists, following requests from members of the Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR) as a highly sought continuing professional development in the field. This simulation course is in accordance with the criteria set by the Hearth and Stroke Foundation. The UdeM Faculty of Medicine and CAE Healthcare created a solid research and development partnership to apply CAE’s unique know-how and knowledge in simulationbased training to the healthcare sector. This aviation expertise brings innovative practices to healthcare training. The combined effort of these two groups has led to the development of educational, technological and service solutions which improve and strengthen the safety and efficiency of patient care delivery. The courseware and education based on CAE Healthcare simulation are designed to offer structured and accessible training according to individual learning paces and schedules of medical students and healthcare professionals. R ecognize and initiate early management of conditions that may result in cardiac arrest or complicate the resuscitation outcome. 2. D emonstrate proficiency in providing Basic Life Support care, including providing effective chest compressions and integrating AED use. 3. M anage cardiac arrest until return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC), termination of resuscitation, or transfer of care. 4. Identify and treat patients with acute coronary syndromes. 5. R ecognize life threatening situations such as anaphylactic reactions, and provide effective initial care and transfer to reduce disability and death. 6. D emonstrate effective communication as a member of a resuscitation team and recognize the impact of team dynamics on overall team performance. 7. R ecognize the predictors for potential airway complications, select patients based on these factors and mobilise the required resources for safe sedation.
