You and your Country
Patriotism is, generally speaking, cultural attachment to one’s homeland or devotion to
one’s country, although interpretations of the term vary with context, geography and political
ideology. It is a set of concepts closely related to those of nationalism.
The English term patriot is first attested in the Elizabethan era, via Middle French from
Late Latin (6th century) patriota “countryman”, ultimately from Greek πατριώτης (patriōtēs)
“countryman”, from πατρίς (patris), “fatherland”.[4] The abstract noun patriotism appears in
the early 18th century.
[Definition from Wikipedia]
Nationalism is a belief, creed or political ideology that involves an individual identifying
with, or becoming attached to, one’s nation. Nationalism involves national identity, by
contrast with the related construct of patriotism, which involves the social conditioning and
personal behaviors that support a state’s decisions and actions.

People take Pictures of each other
(Ray Davis)
People take pictures of the Summer,
Just in case someone thought they had missed it,
And to prove that it really existed.
Fathers take pictures of the mothers,
And the sisters take pictures of brothers,
Just to show that they love one another.
You can’t picture love that you took from me,
When we were young and the world was free.
Pictures of things as they used to be,
Don’t show me no more, please.
People take pictures of each other,
Just to prove that they really existed,
Just to prove that they really existed.
People take pictures of each other,
And a moment could last them forever,
Of the time when they mattered to someone.
People take pictures of the Summer,
Just in case someone thought they had missed it,
Just to prove that it really existed.
People take pictures of each other,
And the moment to last them forever,
Of the time when they mattered to someone.
Picture of me when I was just three,
Sat with my ma by the old oak tree.
Oh how I love things as they used to be,
Don’t show me no more, please.
