EMPLOYEE ADVISORY GROUP 2016
UPDATE
The Clinch Valley Health Employee Advisory
Group is a formal committee developed to
work as a liaison for its organization and
employees. Members of the Employee
Advisory Group for 2016 are Louise Ball, Jeff
Blankenship, Carolyn Burress, Chris Cole,
Rebecca Deel, Ingrid Herald, Tammy Hurley,
Debbie Lester, Jennifer Lester, Frances
Meadows, Dolores Mulkey, Karla Nuckles,
Tammy Shelton, Vickie Stacy, Georgie Vandyke, and Jill Watson. Each member was selected
from a pool of qualified volunteers, representing various parts of the business (hospital,
physician practices, and home health). The EAG aims to maximize employee relations, provide
a healthy work environment, and to recognize employees by giving them a voice and influence
in matters affecting them and the environment in which they work.
The topic of discussion for the first meeting in 2016 was about utilizing the lunch and learn
programs to promote knowledge among staff about service offerings at CV Health. The first
topic of our “Learn it at Lunch” will be on EBUS, presented by Dr. Jawad. The group had many
suggestions about how to make this program successful, for example assigning someone from
each department to attend and would then share with their coworkers, offering the program at
different lunch times so employees at the 12pm lunch crew would have the same opportunity
to attend these programs as the 1pm lunch crew, possibly videotaping the program, or have
the speaker present to our CVPA and CPPS staff during their monthly meeting, depending on
availability.
Welcome to CVPA!
Lisa Stiltner, FNP, will be joining Clinch Valley
Physicians Associates this March! Lisa has worked

experience to the position, and is here to work with you
and your staff.
NEW CAPABILITIES IN 2016
Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) is a new
service offered at Clinch Valley Medical
Center. EBUS is a minimally invasive,
but highly effective procedure that will be
performed in the operating room by Dr.
Jawad. EBUS allows physicians to perform
a technique known as transbronchial needle
aspiration (TBNA) to obtain tissue or fluid
samples from the lungs and surrounding
lymph nodes without conventional surgery.
The samples can be used for diagnosing and staging lung cancer, detecting infections,
and identifying inflammatory diseases that affect the lungs, such as sarcoidosis or other
cancers like lymphoma.
