LECTURER I Applicants should possess Ph.D degree in Agricultural Economics in any of the relevant fields indicated above, and a minimum of three (3) years relevant teaching experience at the University level. Evidence of adequate scholarly publications in reputable journals is required. LECTURER II Applicants should possess Ph.D degree in Agricultural Economics in any of the relevant fields indicated above, and should have not less than three (3) publications in reputable journals. (II) DEPARTMENT OF AGRONOMY LECTURER I/II AREA OF SPECIALIZATION Soil Classification and Survey Applicants should have first degree in Agriculture/Agronomy, Masters Degree in Soil Science and Ph.D degree from a recognized University, with specialization in Soil Classification and Survey. Ability to supervise postgraduate candidates (including Ph.D) in the area of expertise is required. (IV) DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY ASSISTANT LECTURER AREA OF SPECIALIZATION Latin American History Applicants should possess degree of Master in History and must have taken and passed Latin American History courses at both undergraduate and Master’s levels. Evidence of current registration for Ph.D in the field and substantial progress in the programme is required. COLLEGE OF MEDICINE (I) DEPARTMENT OF BIOCHEMISTRY ASSISTANT LECTURER Applicants for this position must have degree of Master of Science in Biochemistry at the Ph.D grade and must have registered for the Ph.D programme for at least one year. LECTURER I AREA OF SPECIALIZATION Epidemiology Applicants must possess the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from a recognized University and professional Fellowship in Public Health or Community Health or Ph.D. in Epidemiology. Applicants should also possess a postgraduate degree in Epidemiology. Membership of relevant professional bodies and publications in reputable journals will be added advantages. SENIOR LECTURER AREA OF SPECIALIZATION Environmental Health Sciences Applicants must possess honours degree in Environmental Health Sciences or related discipline and Ph.D in Environmental Health Sciences with specialization in any of the following areas (i) Environmental Toxicology (ii) Environmental Epidemiology (iii) Environmental Engineering. Applicants must have had at least 6 years post-doctorate teaching experience at the University level and at least 15 publications in reputable journals with evidence of involvement in postgraduate supervision. Membership of relevant international professional bodies will be an added advantage. (III) DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH POLICY AND MANAGEMENT PROFESSOR/READER AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION Health Policy and Management/Health Services Administration 4 Applicants for the position of Professor must possess Ph.D in Public Health with specialization in Health Policy and Management or Health Services Administration. OR Fellowship of either the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria or West African College of Physicians in Public Health and a Master’s degree in Management/Administration. Applicants must have at least 12 years of teaching and research experience in Health Policy and Management or Health Services Administration at the University level and must show evidence of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals and track record of outstanding research in the above areas of expertise. Applicants must also demonstrate ability to supervise research projects at Doctoral level in the areas of his/her specialty. For the position of Reader, applicants should have the same qualifications as stated above except that a minimum of 9 years of teaching and research in a recognized University would be required. LECTURER I AREA OF SPECIALIZATION Health Economics Applicants must possess Ph.D in Health Economics OR Fellowship of either the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria or West African College of Physicians in Public Health. Applicants with Fellowship should also have Master’s degree in Health Economics from a recognized University while applicants with Ph.D must have at least 3 years of teaching and research experience in Health Economics at the University level. Applicants should also show evidence of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals and track record of outstanding research in the above area of expertise. LECTURER II AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION Health Policy and Management/Health Services Administration Applicants must possess M.PH or M.Sc in Management/Administration from a recognized University. Previous teaching experience in Supplies Management at the University level and evidence of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals will be an advantage. Evidence of registration for Ph.D in Health Policy and Management or Health Services Administration will be an added advantage. Any applicant who is not a Doctoral student must be ready to commence a Ph.D programme immediately. ` (IV) DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH PROMOTION AND EDUCATION SENIOR LECTURER Applicants should possess good Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Health Sciences or Medicine and Master of Public Health (MPH) with emphasis in Health Promotion and Education obtained from a recognized University or School of Public Health. He/She should also have Ph.D in Health Promotion and Education, Social Sciences, Education or Health Sciences. In addition, the applicant should show evidence of research and scholarly productivity through publications in peerreviewed journals. He/She should show evidence of leading and participating in research at the local and international levels. The suitable candidate should have a minimum of five (5) years teaching experience in a tertiary institution. LECTURER I Applicants should possess Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Health Sciences or Medicine and Master of Public Health (MPH) in Health Promotion and Education obtained from a recognized University or School of Public Health. Applicants should also have Ph.D in Health Promotion and Education, Social Sciences, Education or Health Sciences with evidence of research and scholarly productivity as regards publications in peer-reviewed journals. The suitable candidate should have at least three (3) years teaching experience in a tertiary institution. 5 LECTURER II Applicants should possess Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Health Sciences or Medicine and Master of Public Health (MPH) in Health Promotion and Education obtained from a recognized University or School of Public Health. At least two years’ experience in research and health education programming and some publications in peer-reviewed journals will be an advantage. Preference will be given to applicants who have registered for Ph.D in Health Promotion and Education, Social Sciences, Education, or Health Sciences. (V) INSTITUTE OF ADVANCED MEDICAL RESEARCH AND TRAINING RESEARCH FELLOW II/I Applicants must possess Ph.D in a Biochemical Science or Fellowship of a Postgraduate Medical College registrable with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria. A higher degree in a life science will be an added advantage for an applicant for Research Fellow I. Preference will be given to applicants with bench experience in Biomedical Science related research and/or familiarity with Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics. The research focus should be on any of these: Genetics, Toxicology, Infectious Diseases, Stem Cell, Cancer, Neurodegenerative Diseases and Reproductive Health. Research activities evidenced by publications in international journals, ability to attract research grants and lead a research team will be taken into consideration. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the research and training activities of the Institute and perform other additional duties as may be assigned by the Director of the Institute. (VI) DEPARTMENT OF MEDICINE LECTURER I AREA OF SPECIALIZATION Nephrology Applicants must hold the Fellowship of either the National Postgraduate Medical College of Physicians or the West African College of Physicians or equivalent, recognized by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN). Possession of additional postgraduate academic degrees such as Master of Science, Postgraduate Diploma or Ph.D and evidence of publications in peer-reviewed journals will be an advantage. (VII) DEPARTMENT OF OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGY LECTURER I Applicants should possess registrable medical qualification with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN). In addition, he/she should possess the Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (FMCOG) and/or the Fellowship of the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS). Published evidence of research activities and teaching experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology will be an advantage. In addition, the applicant should: preferably have had experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching; have active interest in research and experience in laboratory investigations of Obstetrics and Gynaecological conditions; possess postgraduate academic qualification; 6 be able to work with minimal supervision; be interested in developing teaching and research skills in Genitourinary Medicine. Applicants with adequate clinical experience will be given priority. (VIII) DEPARTMENT OF PHYSIOLOGY SENIOR LECTURER AREA OF SPECIALIZATION Physiology Applicants must possess first degree, Master and Ph.D in Physiology with minimum of 6 years postPh.D teaching and research experience at the University level and must show evidence of supervision of graduate students. He/She must also have publications in peer-reviewed international journals. LECTURER II/I AREA OF SPECIALIZATION Physiology Applicants must possess first degree, Master and Ph.D in Physiology with minimum of 3 years postPh.D teaching and research experience at the University level for Lecturer I. Applicants with B.Sc. degree in Physiology or MBBS or BDS and Master in Physiology with minimum of 2 years post- Master’s degree may be considered for Lecturer II. Such applicants must however show evidence of current registration for Ph.D in Physiology. Applicants for Lecturer I must have publications in peer-reviewed international journals. (IX) DEPARTMENT OF PREVENTIVE MEDICINE AND PRIMARY CARE LECTURER I AREA OF SPECIALIZATION Reproductive and Family Health (REH) Applicants should hold the Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in Public Health, West African College of Physicians in Community Health or equivalent qualification registrable with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria. An additional postgraduate subspecialty qualification in Reproductive and Family Health and/or published works thereof will be an advantage. LECTURER I AREA OF SPECIALIZATION Clinical Epidemiology Applicants should hold the Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in Public Health, the West African College of Physicians in Community Health or equivalent qualification, registrable with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria. An additional postgraduate qualification in Clinical Epidemiology and/or evidence of work in the sub-specialty will be an advantage. (X) DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHIATRY LECTURER I AREA OF SPECIALIZATION Geriatric Psychiatry Applicants should possess medical qualification registrable with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) such as MBBS, MB, ChB or equivalent. In addition applicants should possess Fellowship of the Nigeria Postgraduate Medical College in Psychiatry (FMCPsych) or Fellowship of the West African College of Physicians in Psychiatry (FWACP) or an equivalent. Evidence of research in the sub-specialty is also required. The successful candidate may be appointed Consultant Psychiatrist in the University College Hospital. 7 3. FACULTY OF EDUCATION (I) DEPARTMENT OF ADULT EDUCATION LECTURER II AREA OF SPECIALIZATION Philosophy of Adult Education Applicants must possess B.A. degree in Philosophy, M.Ed in Adult Education and Ph.D in Philosophy of Adult Education. Evidence of teaching experience in a recognized University for at least three years and relevant scholarly publications in reputable journals will be an added advantage. LECTURER II AREA OF SPECIALIZATION Psychological Foundations Applicants must possess first degree, M.Ed and Ph.D in Adult Education (with preference for Psychological Foundations/Social Welfare), and must have published substantially in reputable journals. (II) DEPARTMENT OF GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING LECTURER II AREA OF SPECIALIZATION Developmental Psychology Applicants must possess Ph.D degree in Developmental Psychology from a reputable University. Proof of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed local and international journals will be an added advantage with evidence of teaching experience in a recognized University. (III) DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN KINETICS AND HEALTH EDUCATION LECTURER II AREA OF SPECIALIZATION Psychology/Sociology of Sports Applicants should possess Bachelor’s degree in Physical and Health Education and Ph.D degree with specialization in Psychology/Sociology of Sports and must be able to coach and teach at least 2 of the following sports: Athletics, Swimming, Gymnastics, Tennis, Basketball, Handball, Volleyball, Table Tennis and Cricket. FACULTY OF SCIENCE (I) DEPARTMENT OF BOTANY LECTURER I AREA OF SPECIALIZATION PLANT PATHOLOGY 8 (Bacteriology/Mycology) Applicants should possess M.Sc. Botany and Ph.D degree in Plant Pathology with specialization in either Bacteriology or Mycology or both. He/She must have at least three years post-qualification teaching/research experience in a University or Research Institute of repute. Applicants for the post of Assistant Lecturer should possess a good first degree in Geology and M.Sc. degree in Hydrogeology from a recognized University with evidence of research capability/potential in Hydrogeology, Hydrochemistry and Isotope Hydrology. LECTURER II/ASSISTANT LECTURER AREA OF SPECIALIZATION Petrology/Mineralogy Applicants for the position of Lecturer II must have Ph.D degree in Petrology/Mineralogy from a recognized University with at least one year teaching experience at the University level. Applicants for the post of Assistant Lecturer should possess a good first degree in Geology and M.Sc. degree in Petrology or Mineralogy from a recognized University with evidence of research capability/potential in Petrology or Mineralogy. (III) DEPARTMENT OF SOCIOLOGY ASSISTANT LECTURER/LECTURER II AREA OF SPECIALIZATION Industrial Sociology (Human Resource Management) Applicants for the post of Assistant Lecturer should possess a Master’s degree in the field of Industrial Sociology with specialization in Human Resource Management. Evidence of registration for Ph.D programme in the field with substantial progress on the programme is required. Additional qualification in Industrial and Personnel Relations and membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPMN) will be added advantages. For the post of Lecturer II, applicants should possess Ph.D degree in the same field as for Assistant Lecturer. LECTURER I/SENIOR LECTURER Applicants for the post of Lecturer I should possess Ph.D degree in Sociology/Anthropology from a reputable University, applicants must also possess a minimum of three (3) years post qualification teaching/research experience at the University level. The research focus should be in the areas of development and programming. Evidence of adequate scholarly publications in reputable journals is required. For the post of Senior Lecturer, applicants must possess six (6) years post-qualification research and teaching experience. The research focus should be in areas of development and programming. FACULTY OF TECHNOLOGY (I) DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING LECTURER II/I AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION Electrical Machines and Power Systems High Voltage Engineering, Process Control, Instrumentation, Telecommunication Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Technology, Embedded Systems, Biomedical Instrumentation Digital Data Processing and Imaging Systems, and Software Engineering Applicants must have first degrees and higher degree that could be pursued to a doctoral level in any of the following Electrical and Electronic Engineering disciplines: Communications Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Power Systems, Electrical Machines, Computer Technology and Software Engineering. Applicants for the position of Lecturer I must have Ph.D degree in any of the listed areas. Potential candidates must have expertise in any of the above listed areas of specialization. Industrial/Professional qualification experience will be an added advantage. 11 (II) DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING LECTURER II AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION Solid Mechanics Thermofluids Applicants should possess Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with clear evidence of registration or application for Ph.D Programme. Teaching experience in a relevant discipline or subject in a tertiary institution and proficiency in the use of AUTOCAD and other software applications will be an added advantage. Applicants should also show evidence of research potentials. LECTURER 1 AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION Solid Mechanics Thermofluids Applicants should possess Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering. Previous teaching and research experience at the University level as well as evidence of publications in reputable and peer-reviewed journals will be an added advantage. Applicants who have M.Phil in Mechanical Engineering with sufficient publications may also be considered. (II) DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRIAL AND PRODUCTION ENGINEERING LECTURER I Applicants should possess Ph.D degree in the relevant field with three years of previous teaching and research experience and must have published papers in relevant academic journals. Registration with COREN will be an added advantage. Candidates will be required to teach Production/Manufacturing Engineering or Operations Research and any one of the following: Human Factor Engineering/Ergonomics, Engineering Management and Systems Analysis. LECTURER II Applicants should possess Master’s degree in the relevant field and evidence of Application/ Registration for Ph.D Degree. Previous teaching experience in a University will be an advantage. FACULTY OF VETERINARY MEDICINE (I) DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY PHYSIOLOGY, BIOCHEMISTRY AND PHARMACOLOGY LECTURER II AREA OF SPECIALIZATION Veterinary Physiology Applicants should possess Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and Masters degrees from recognized Universities and be registered with the Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN) or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and at least 2 years post-qualification experience and evidence of postgraduate training in the relevant discipline. LECTURER II AREA OF SPECIALIZATION Veterinary Biochemistry Applicants should possess Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and Masters degrees from recognized Universities and be registered with the Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN) or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and at least 2 years post-qualification experience and evidence of ongoing postgraduate training in the relevant discipline. 12 10. KENNETH DIKE LIBRARY LIBRARIAN II Job Specification: The job is about the delivery of information services in support of the Teaching, Learning and Research (TLR) activities of the University. The services include collection development, cataloguing and classification, readers’ services including the design, packaging and delivery of customized information services. Qualification Applicants must possess either the BLS or B.A/B.Sc. or LLB degree plus any of MLS, MLIS or M.Inf.Sc. from a recognized University. Possession of other recognized qualifications will be added advantages. Special Requirements In addition to the above listed qualifications, candidates must possess a good drive for hard work and a commitment to excellence. Above all, candidates MUST be sufficiently proficient in the application of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) to the Management of Information resources in the context of the Virtual reality of modern Library services. 11. AFRICA REGIONAL CENTRE FOR INFORMATION SCIENCE LECTURER I/II Applicants should possess first degree in any discipline plus degree of Master and Ph.D degree in Information Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or Computer Science. Applicants for Lecturer I or Lecturer II position must have at least three (3) years or one (1) year relevant teaching experience respectively at the University level. Evidence of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals or books, industrial work experience in information systems development, deployment and management will be an added advantage.
