Who is Your Neighbor?
 Cheryl Cannon
“Love your neighbor as yourself” has been tossed around lately in an
effort to condone behaviors contrary to God’s Word. Since these are actually the words of Jesus perhaps we should consider their context. These
words are in fact part two of Jesus’ reply when asked, what is the greatest
commandment? “And you must love the Lord your God with all your
heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’ The second
is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.” Mark 12:30-31NLT They are eternally
linked and never intended to be separated. Without question loving God
wholeheartedly takes precedence and that includes loving the whole of His
WORD. Yet it can’t be fully accomplished without loving our neighbor unselfishly.

The question begging to be asked is, “Who is my neighbor?” Again we
have the answer to this question in Jesus own words in the parable of the
Good Samaritan, Luke 10:25-37. Jesus deliberately broadens our definition of neighbor to include other nations. Here is the heart of the matter –
the revealed heart of God the Father – His love for all nations. “For God
so love the WORLD, that He gave His only begotten Son.” John 3:16
As ASK leaders understanding, “loving our neighbor as ourselves” is crucial because it is the basis for our ASKng. Our vision statement clearly
says we pray for all nations and our foundational verse,1John3:22 says we
obey His commands and do what pleases Him. Verse 23 clarifies those
commands, “And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son,
Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.”
So how are we doing with loving our neighbors through intercession? Keeping our vision statement focused before us, keeps us on point
as leaders.

International Day of Prayer For the Persecuted Church
November 1 and 8, 2015
 Sue Monson
Christian persecution is defined as hostility experienced from the world as a result of one's identification as
a Christian. From verbal harassment to hostile feelings, attitudes
and action, beatings, physical torture, confinement, isolation, rape,
severe punishment, imprisonment, slavery, discrimination in education and employment, and death are being endured as each
month 322 are killed, 214 churches and properties are destroyed
and 722 forms of violence are committed against fellow believers in
more than 60 areas of the world.
Persecuted Christians, no matter what country they are from, do
not ask us to pray that persecution would end, but rather ask us to
pray that they stand strong through the persecution. They do not
wish to be delivered from the persecution, but rather ask us to pray
that they would be able to overcome the trials that they are facing
in a way that is honoring to God. Many enduring persecution often
feel isolated and alone, since they are unable to fellowship with
other believers. However, prayers from Christians half a world away have brought the same amount of encouragement that fellowship would have for those enduring suffering. Prayer is vital—not only as a direct
line to God, but as a way to encourage our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world.
We invite you to join with us as we take this prayer list before the Lord, ASKing on their behalf.
For further information, Open Doors Ministries has available a listing of 50 countries where Christians are
suffering persecution www.opendoorsusa.org. Fact sheets maps and personal prayer requests are also
available for downloading. Voice of the Martyrs has material which can be accessed at
www.persecution.com as well as International Day of Prayer at www.idop.org.

Getting to Know our State Leaders
Mississippi State Team Leader: Dorothy Smith
As a worshipper, I found this organization to be the perfect place of freedom. A place where the gift of intimate worship and biblical mediation could grow. In 1996, I was introduce to what is now Ask Network and
went to my first conference in Lake Junalaska, NC. I received revelation of the scripture God had given
me, Jeremiah 1:10 “See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out and
to pull down, to destroy and to throw down, to build and to plant.” Derek Prince and George Otis, Sr,
generals of the faith, impacted my life. The vision and purpose of biblical meditation and worship were
unleashed in me on that day. My road map was clear, by the time I joined the National Worship Team the
revelation of “to root out, pull down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant” was revealed and I
experienced a boldness and authority like never before.
Thank you Bev Dennen for your prayers and teachings because of them each meeting had emphasis on
WORSHIP, biblical meditation and declarations of what God revealed through prayer. We saw signs,
wonders and miracles. We now pray with the next generation the same way we learned to pray. This being
the Hebraic year of 5776 we pray much for Israel. This is the year to, ”Return , be made whole and rejoice!
Now I serve not only a State Team Leader but also as a member of the Pastoral Team.
New Teaching Resources—Worship with ASKing
A new set of lessons on praise and worship with ASKing has been added to the Teaching Resources on
the ASK.USA website. “Praise and worship are essential preparation for meditation and prayer. They
bring you into God’s presence where you feel His peace and can hear what the Spirit is speaking; but more
importantly it declares who God is as the One who answers our
asking.”
These resources can be used for your own personal growth, in your
prayer group, or for sharing the importance of praise and worship in
the place of prayer with others. There are ten lessons in the series
written by Tryna Bahl. Titles include: Praise, How and Why; Develop Your Praise I and II; Praise as Warfare, and Praise, What
Happens.

From the Nations Team
"Walking in His will and the power of the Holy Spirit, we seek to be ready to actively
respond to our neighbor and to the nations in prayer, love, and compassion."
We Have been praying for:
The youth, schools, High School & Universities - prayer walking & praying that God would develop in them
a desire to study scripture. Turn their ear to wisdom - Apply their hearts to understanding - .. the fear of the
Lord is the beginning of wisdom...
Protection...
When youth encounter the Gospel - lives are changed - American is changed - God is glorified.
From Patti Acquaviva:
"Be ready" has been highlighted to me many times in recent years & once again as I traveled.
I spent the month of August in Maryland & Virginia where it was made clear to me the importance of "being
ready".
8/7 In Maryland, the Lord opened doors of opportunity to meet, worship, pray & fellowship with believers at
"Bethel World Outreach Church. They were celebrating their 25th anniversary which made way for added
worship & fellowship times. It was a joyous time getting together with people from many different countries & cultures - (South America), Columbia, Chile, & also Libya & other places in Africa.
I was invited to attend my first Spanish class ....... Hola, Como estas?
Their welcoming, love & fellowship left me with an excitement & anticipation for the next visit (visited 6
times in all) . Even though for me there was a language barrier, there were no barriers in the spirit. We
were one.
The last 2 weeks I visited Virginia. The neighborhood where I stayed was also very diverse, with many different cultures, mainly Middle Eastern - living quarters were very close. At first there was not much conversing with those outside the apartment, the eye contact was minimal..... the language & tone could
seemed harsh to someone who does not understand the language. Some of my first thoughts were feardriven that caused a pulling back of love & compassion.
The Lord began to bring to mind... a song that comes to me often "Down at your feet is the most high
place". I was reminded of Mary & how she sat at Jesus feet.... "Be still & know that I am God".
He lead me to ponder: Luke 10:25 - 37 The Good Samaritan & Acts 12 Praying for sudden encounters.
Matt 19:16 Be as shrewd as snakes & as innocent as doves.
Micah 6:8 .......To act justly & to love mercy & to walk humbly with your God."
The question came to me - How ready am I for those encounters outside my comfort zone..... to help, give,
meet needs.....How can I put love into practice today?"Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God
which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of
power & of love & of a sound mind." 11 Tim 6-7
I began to press in when I went - walking, swimming & out in the neighborhood - there was some
resistance, but His joy was filling me & then being released out.
II Tim 1:6-7 Since we walk by the Spirit, Let us keep in step with the Spirit.
And this is love: that we walk in obedience to His commands.....
"His command is that you walk in love." 2 John 6
8/23 Worshiped with "New Song" Church in Vienna, Virginia.
