Bayyinah Access 2: Detailed Pre-Requisites
Welcome to Access 2: Advanced Grammar! In this course you will continue to build on your
knowledge of Arabic Grammar and Sarf to dive deeper into the nuances of Quranic Arabic.
Before beginning this course, please review the guide below. Students should be comfortable and
fluent with the topics in the guide below in order to benefit fully from the Access 2 Course.

Recite the past tense chart from memory and be able to
identify the inside doer of any given past tense fil.

‫فعل فاعل مفعول متعلق بالفعل‬.
Recognize and define the different kinds of mafools.
Know the difference between a ‫ مجةل فعلية‬and a ‫مجةل امسية‬.
Normal Present Tense

Light Present Tense

Be able to label an embedded sentence that contains both
kinds of sentences.
Recite the present tense chart from memory and be able to
identify the inside doer of any given present tense fil.
Be able to recite, translate, and label the harfs that make the
present tense light (mansoob). Be able to recognize identify
the inside pronoun of a light (mansoob) present tense fil
Lightest Present Tense

Be able to recite, translate, and label the harfs that make the
present tense lightest (majzoom). Be able to recognize
identify the inside pronoun of a lightest (majzoom) present
tense fil
Commanding and
Forbidding
Be able to recognize a ‫ فعل أمر‬and ‫ فعل هني‬and grammatically
‫فعل أمر و فعل هني‬
label and translate them.
Conditional Statements
‫مجةل شرطية‬
Be able to recognize a conditional statement, translate and
grammatically label the following:
‫الفعل المبني للمجهول‬
Understand what it means for a ‫ فعل‬to be passive.

Sentences
Be able to recognize, translate and grammatically analyze
both past tense and present tense passives.
Recall the rules of Kana (considered a JI, the ism of Kana is in
the raf status, and the khabr is nasb) and grammatically label
these sentences.

Be able to determine the status of the ‫ اسم موصول‬in a

Sarf
Understand the sarf template.

Be able to recite Forms II- X (excluding form IX) from
memory.
Be able to recognize when a word is from Family 1 and what
kind of word it is.
For any given word, be able to look up the meaning in Hans
Wher, Lane’s Lexicon, or Brill.
For any given word, be able to tell the root letters, kind of
word, sarf form/family and the meaning
Be able to read and understand basic irab terminology for the
topics above. (See the Access 2 Practice Assessment for an
example)
