Superintendent’s
Award
Presented to:
Jack Rydquist
12th Grade
Fred C. Beyer High School
The best word that could be used to describe Jack
would be the word “inclusive.” Jack is a popular
student, and like many popular students he is
charismatic, funny and other students just want to
be around him. What makes Jack different is that
he includes everyone in his circle. Watch him show
up for a basketball game and you will see him highfive 50 people in the stands from every group you
could imagine. From the shy freshman sitting alone,
to the student with Down’s-syndrome, each of the
students has a special nickname given to them by
Jack. He serves as a peer tutor and makes struggling
students feel at ease around him, talking to them
about sports at the same time as he motivates
them to clean out their backpack and turn in some
homework. He is a veteran on the golf team, but
makes sure to make the new team members feel
welcome and at-ease from day one. Jack is involved
in Chess Club, Global Lab, Mock Trial, Red Sea,
and numerous other clubs at Beyer. Everywhere
he goes, he both leads and includes every student.
Jack is a remarkable young man and Modesto City
Schools would be lucky to have more like him.
